Introduction
Introduction

A fraction is a part of a whole. Fractions are made of two numbers. The number on top is known as numerator. The number at the bottom is known as denominator.

A mixed number is the sum of a whole number and a proper fraction. This sum is shown without the use of operator "+"; for example, in referring to two entire cakes and three quarters of another cake, the whole and fractional parts of the number are written next to each other:

2 + '3/4' = 2 '3/4'

Mixed Number Calculator Methods (addition and Subtraction Problems):

Mixed number calculator methods:

Most of students have trouble remembering how to do (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division) fraction with mixed numbers. This activity will show you a quick calculator to solve these problems. First, you need to know how to make a mixed number to improper number.

Steps to add and subtract mixed numbers calculator:

Find the least common denominator.

Add or subtract the fractions and add or subtract the whole numbers.

Write your answer in lowest terms.

Ex: Add

1 '2/3' + 1 '5/3'

Sol:

=' (1 * 3+ 2) / 3+ (1* 3 +5) / 3'

= '(3 + 2) / 3 + (3 +5) / 3'

= '(5 / 3)+ (8 / 3)'

=' (5 + 8) / 3'

= '13 / 3'

Ex 2: Add

2 '4/3' + 3 '5/3'

Sol:

= '(2xx3+4)/3'+ '(3xx 3 +5)/3'

= '(6+4)/3' + '(9+5)/3'

= '(10/3)' + ('14/3)'

= '(10+14)/3'

= '24 / 3'

= 8

I want to help you with how to solve a algebraic expression keep checking my articles.

Ex 3: Find the difference of the mixed number

1' 4/5' - 1 '3/5'

Sol:

=' (1 * 5 + 4) / 5- (1 *5 + 3) / 5'

= '(5 + 4) / 5 - (5 +3) / 5'

= '(9/5)- (8 /5)'

= '(9- 8) /5'

= '1 / 5'

Ex 4: Solve

3 '4/5' - 2 '3/5'

Sol:

= '(3xx5+4)/5' - '(2xx5+3)/5'

= '(15+4)/5' - '(10+3)/5'

= ( '19/5' - ('13 /5' )

= '(19 - 13)/5'

= '6 / 5'

= 1.2 (Round the value)

= 1

Mixed Number Calculator Methods (multiplication and Division Problems):

Steps for multiplying and dividing mixed numbers calculator:

The following steps are used for multiplying and dividing mixed numbers,

The initial step is to write the mixed fractions as improper fractions

Make simpler the improper fraction, if it could

Do multiplication and division individually on numerators and then the denominator

Write the answer in simplest term

Check to be sure the answer makes sense.

Ex 5: Multiply mixed numbers:

1 '3/4' * 1' 2/4'

Sol:

=' (1 * 4 + 3) / 4* (1 *4 + 2) / 4'

= '(4 + 3) / 4* (4 +2) / 4'

=' (7/4)* (6 /4)'

= '(42 / 16)'

=' 21 / 8'

Ex 6: Multiply the mixed fractions:

5 '3/4' * 3 '2/4'

Sol:

= '(5xx4+3)/4' 'xx' '(3xx4+2)/4'

= '(20+3)/4' * '(12+2)/4'

= ('23/4' ) * ('14/4' )

= ('322 / 16' )

= 20.125 (Round the value)

= 20

Ex 7: Divide the mixed numbers:

(1' 1/6' ) / (1 '2/6' )

Sol:

= '[(1 * 6 + 1) / 6]/ [(1 *6 + 2) / 6]'

=' [(6 + 1) / 6]/ [(6 + 2) / 6]'

=' (7 / 6)/ (8 / 6)'

Changing division sign to multiplication we get,

= '7 / 6 * 6 / 8'

= '7 / 8'

Ex 8: Solve

(4 '1/6' ) / (2 '2/6' )

Sol:

= '[(4xx 6+1)/6]' / '[(2xx6+2)/6]'

= '[(24 + 1) / 6]'/ '[(12+2)/6]'

= '(24 / 6)'/ '(14 / 6)'

Changing division sign to multiplication we get,

= '24 / 6' * '6 / 14'

= '24 / 14'

= '12 / 7 '

= 1.71 (Round the value)

= 2
