subject: A Business Trip From Bangalore To Mysore [print this page] Our newly formed IT firm in Bangalore was in the process of expansion and I was concerned with the marketing responsibilities of the newly formed organization. Taking the dual responsibilities of marketing and expansion on my shoulders, naturally I was supposed to visit different metro cities for business purpose. Some times the travelling schedule is so hectic that you will curse yourselves for being in marketing field. Anyhow after spending many years in marketing there were very little options left with me to enter some other field.
Last month I had visited one of our Mumbai clients and just on my return from Mumbai, I was supposed to travel to Mysore for organizing some important business meeting. Even if Mysore is not far from Bangalore my concern was how to book hotel at Mysore on my own at a very short notice. Since it was Saturday most of the firms at Bangalore are enjoying holiday and in our office the staff concerned with the reservations and bookings was not available. Since I was running out of time, I thought of making the arrangements on my own. Taking little rest in the morning, I hired a taxi for Mysore from Bangalore city center. It was a matter of hardly three hours, as Bangalore to Mysore distance is hardly one hundred fifty km. The cab of Bangalore city taxi was comfortable and spacious. I could have taken a nap in the taxi but since I was travelling on this route for the first time, I was bit curious about getting some nice views during the journey. Initially I was bit nervous since Bangalore traffic made us travel like tortoise and wasted nearly about an hour till we were out of Kengeri which is at the outskirts of the city. But after that it is a really enjoyable ride till you reach Mysore. Passing from the places Ramnagara, Maddur, Mandya finally it was Srirangapatna just thirteen km from Mysore, where I was amazed by the panoramic views. Cab driver told me that it is an island and many tourists travel this town to visit the ancient temple of Ranganathswamy.
After a pleasant Bangalore to Mysore ride we were in the city by four pm and tried a few hotels near bus stand, but I was not much satisfied with the type of arrangements. I told the driver to take the cab to some area where best budget hotels with facilities for business meetings are available. So he took me to the area near palace. We searched a few hotels and at last found one hotel matching my requirements. I booked the meeting room for our meeting supposed to be conducted at six in the evening and instantly informed my clients representative about the venue and time of the evening meeting. Luckily this hotel was not far from his residence, so he agreed to reach the hotel in time along with his colleagues. In all there were six people to be participating in the meeting and the meeting room was good enough for ten persons. Our meeting started sharp at 6.15 and continued till 8.15. Meantime we were served with soft drinks and tidy snacks. Overall the meeting room was well equipped with required facilities and even a few secretarial services. Getting required facilities at a short notice itself indicated the positive atmosphere of Mysore for conducting business meetings or events. Taking an overnight halt at the hotel, I returned back to Bangalore to submit the report about our Mysore business meeting.
