subject: Completing Non-repeatable Tasks Will Usually Improve Your Popularity [print this page]

Different kinds of tasks and faction-specific advantages are available across the stages, but the gamer must be able to communicate with the faction NPCs to get entry to these advantages. As regular this needs fairly neutral or better standing.

Completing non-repeatable tasks will usually improve your popularity with the pursuit giver's faction(s) by a set variety of factors. Most of the categories also have unique repeatable tasks that offer popularity when finished, or unique competitors that offer popularity when murdered.

Still complete popularity is obtained by questing at an advanced stage. For example, completing low stage tasks with a stage 70 character now gives complete popularity. This makes it much simpler to get to exalted and buy another faction's mount.

For mob destroys, provided that the mob drawbacks organic or greater to you, then you will get complete popularity. Greyish competitors give 20% of the regular popularity. See the mob issues colors chart for when competitors conversion from organic to grey.

Sometimes both competitors and tasks improve your popularity with a faction but reduce it with another. For example, eliminating Gelkis centaurs will improve your popularity with the Magram, but it will also reduce your popularity with the Gelkis. Thus there is no way to be Friendly with the Gelkis and the Magram simultaneously. It is possible to avoid this by group with someone and getting them to destroy the appropriate competitors, this will allow you the obtained popularity, but you will not reduce with the faction you are eliminating.

Take the Argent Starting as example. There are several methods in which to generate popularity for them: doing conventional tasks, eliminating competitors in and around Scholomance and Stratholme, eliminating managers, and doing repeatable tasks. To a certain level, the issue is that each of these methods will only perform. Usually eliminating conventional competitors will only get you to Recognized or so. After that, only tasks and managers will offer popularity and these are of course more complex to do. Therefore, it is in a gamblers best interest to go as far as possible on mob destroys alone and then use repeatable tasks and conventional tasks to get through revered. Argent Starting popularity, run Scholomance and Stratholme to get popularity from destroys until you arrive at Recognized position. At this aspect, popularity obtained from eliminating competitors will stop, but you should have designed up quite a collection of Scourgestones and such to turn in in fast series to further boost your popularity. Identical techniques can be used to other categories, simply different the circumstances you run.
