subject: Hands-on Review About Motorola Droid Razr Maxx Hd: It Runs Jelly Bean [print this page]

Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD may not take the leading role in the Motorola RAZR family, yet its specs is absolutely the strongest one among the three RAZR members. Housing a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD display, an 8MP camera, a Qualcomm S4 dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and running Android 4.1 Jelly, it bears a super battery, a 3300mAh Li-ion. As theres one available in our hands, lets see the details of it.

Compared to the yellow green AMOLED display of RAZR, the updated display of RAZR Maxx HD is rather satisfactory. Even though its square design and large battery makes it a little odd, its Kevlar material on the back is excellent with enough frictions and grips to prevent the device dropping from hands. The LET smart phone feels noble with metals ringing around its edges and subtle patterns engraved on the top.

As for the display, it is the most magnificent in the whole handset. With luxuriant colors, the 4.7-inch Super AMOLET HD display, although it feels a little tough, is of great use. Yet when opening the browser, what you see is the inconspicuous yellow tinge. As it hasnt been on sale, we cant judge whether the problem results from hardware or not. For the viewing angle, it works very well. When adjusting it to near 180, we still can see the contents clearly.

We are glad to know that the Droid RAZR Maxx HD, differing from Droid RAZR HD sporting an Ice Cream Sandwich, is launching on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Without too many changes on its appearance, there arent many auxiliary functions. Sliding left the Quick Setting panel on the homescreen, you can set page numbers of the homescreen according to your need. When you click the app drawer icon, Google Apps, Motorola and Verizon bloats will come into your sight. Luckily, these troublesome apps are not too much, only about 10. It might be possible to delete or stop the use of the apps.

Here comes to its actual performance. With support from the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual core processor, Droid RAZR Maxx HD worked smoothly and remarkably no matter on transitioning between pane and apps. Yet, we didnt get the same good result for its browser performance due to the clogged Wi-Fi network. It took the Chrome browser about 15 seconds to load a simple Google search, a little long indeed. Yet, after it succeeded in loading, we could see that its multi-touch was very responsive and could swiftly adjust the size of the selected text and graphics.

In short, Droid RAZR Maxx HD caters to the need of heavyweight users. For any other information about it, including its price and release date, however, Motorola officials didnt give a clear answer. They only said that the device will be on sale before Christmas Day. Any way, we still believe that it will receive a hearty welcome.
