It is forecasted that in 2012, the total imports will be with 10% higher in physical terms than in 2011. Experts expect that in the next few years the share of foreign products on the Russian market will increase, due to the fact that Russia has recently entered the WTO.
The mattresses of Russian origin in 2011 were 92.5% of the total market or 2,913 thousand units, which was 54% higher than in 2010. In January June 2012, the same indicator was 1,478.06 thousand units. The total figure for 2012 is expected to show an increase of 7% in the production of mattresses in physical terms.
The exports of Russian mattresses in 2011 were 7.6 thousand units, which was 10% higher than in 2010. The main manufacturers of mattresses in 2011 were 13 companies. The leaders among them were the LLC Askona-Vek ( ), GC Ormatek () and the company Consul ().
The LLC Askona-Vek (-) in 2011 manufactured 713.7 thousand mattresses which were equal to 24.5% of the total volume of production of mattresses in Russia in physical terms. The company exported 613 mattresses in 2011. As a result, the company Askona-Vek (-) had a share of 22.7% on the market of mattresses in physical terms.
The GC Ormatek () took the second place in the total production of mattresses in Russia. It manufactured 326.3 thousand units in 2011, which was 11.2% of the total production in Russia in physical terms. The company exported 210 units in 2011 and thus had a share of exports of 10.4% in physical terms.
The third place on the Russian market of mattresses . belongs to the company Consul (). In 2011 it manufactured 273.8 thousand and exported 98 units. As a result, the company had a share of exports equal to 8.7% in physical terms.
The leaders on the Russian mattresses market . in 2011 were the LLC Askona Vek ( ), the GC Prmatek () and the company Consul (). The combined share of the three largest manufacturers is 45% of the market, which proves the high production concentration. This corresponds to the international practice, where within the largest corporations are integrated the manufacturing assets, which allows the companies to make capital-intensive investments in the modernization of the equipment and thus reach new levels of technology.
Due to the gradual increase of the well-being of the population and the increase in the demand for mattresses, an increase in their consumption on the Russian market is expected. Until the end of 2012, the volume of consumption will be 3.37 million units.
