subject: Kerry Pharr Helps Ministries Raise Money [print this page] Through his weekly television show In Your Corner, Kerry Pharr has inspired many to persevere through tough times. But the recent economic challenges had the former boxing trainers TV show battling to be able to afford to stay on the air.
Through a new fundraising effort, however, Pharr has found a way to not only make money for his family and loved ones, but to help other ministries, as well. Through a partnership with T-Mobile, social commerce company Solavei is offering cell phone users a chance to save at least more than half on their current cell phone bill. But saving money is only the beginning. Customers are also able to make money by referring friends to the servicein some cases, hundreds of dollars a month.
Traditional cell providers spend large sums of money on advertisinga cost they pass on to their customers. Solaveis business model utilizes social media to reach todays consumer. Since social media has been proven to be effective in delivering marketing messages to consumers, both Solavei and T-Mobile recognize that this is a great opportunity for all participants.
Better than any advertising is word of mouth, Doug Chartier, senior vice president of sales and operations for T-Mobile, says. Thats why were excited to partner with Solavei.
The setup is ideal for ministries, who are able to reach large groups of people at a time. A congregation can even reach out to other ministries in the area and further their benefits, raising money for the church as well as its participating members.
Since Solavei works on referrals, the more people your ministry is able to get involved, the better. But it isnt necessary to refer others to save. You simply start out by choosing a phone or transferring your existing eligible GSM unlocked phone to Solavei. Youll then join Solavei and receive unlimited voice, text, and data for only $49 per month. At that point, youll begin sharing the news of your savings with your friends and family members by word of mouth and posting on your social media sites. As those you know begin asking for more information, youll already be enjoying savings, but with each person you refer, youll save even more. Once the savings reach $0, youll start making money.
Solavei members and their personal network members only need to sign up three members, called trios, to earn $20 per month. Once a member amasses three trios, that members service is free, since the income coming in from that members trios would then be greater than $49 per month. A comparable plan for T-Mobile customers would be around $80-$90 per month.
Because of Solaveis partnership with T-Mobile, the company is able to offer customers access to 4G speeds without the high prices of other cell phone services. Although Solavei is a relatively new company, launching September 21, 2012, the company already has 140 full-time workers and contractors and more than thirty partners.
