With a starting price of Rs 3.81 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), the Ford Figo provides American technology at its best. Its aesthetics is one of its main USPs, even though it might not look as agile as the competition in its class but nevertheless it is regarded as one of the biggest B-segment cars in the country. Therefore what it does offer is a boxy design which has been carried forward from its predecessor the Fusion. However unlike its previous squared look, the Figo features pulled back headlamps, sculpted front bonnet, a prominent Ford logo and a thin chrome strip that forms an essential part of the front grille. Fog lamps however can be found on the top end model. The sides cater to flared wheel arches while the rear is more Fusion inspired with vertical tail lamps and chiselled boot.

According to specifications, the Figo has a longer wheel base when compared to the swift. Having said this one would expect that the cabin would offer decent amount of leg throughout but thats not true as the front is comfortable while the rear feels a bit cramped. The dual tone fabric seats offered on Ford Figo make up for what has been lost as they are comfortable and provide ample of support. The other aspect which has been the main attraction to many is its dual tone dash which comprises of maroon and black plastics. At the time of its launch, the Figo was known for this trend which was a first to be incorporated into any production vehicle by any manufacturer. Other features include an in built music system with Bluetooth connectivity and an Aux-in.

Currently, Ford is offering to engine variations on the Figo. First is a 1.2 Duratec Petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 71 PS with 102 Nm of torque. While the 1.4 Duratorq Diesel which seems to be the most sort after engine these days gives 69 PS with 160 Nm of torque. The performances of both these engines differ as the petrol provides refinement while the diesel seems a bit noisy but at the same time is very fuel efficient. There is a five speed manual transmission which comes as a standard fitment on both petrol and diesel variants.

The Figo has a brilliant suspension setup courtesy independent MacPherson struts in the front while the rear feature non-independent, twist beam, coil spring. With these on board, the ride quality is top notch as the hot hatch can glide over smooth and broken surfaces with ease without having to give its occupants any hash jolts.

On the whole, Ford Figo is not a bad option when compared with segment leaders like the Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20. It might not have striking looks but at the end of the day pricing is something where is scores the maximum. With a 2 year warranty on it, the Ford Figo provides American design and technology at its best.
