subject: Apprenticeships Have Become Incredibly Beneficial In This Climate [print this page]

Currently around 5,011,280 people within the United Kingdom are unemployed. There are approximately 62,641,000 people in the United Kingdom. The rate of unemployment has dropped to just 8%, but this is still a very large number. The average income of people on unemployment benefits annually is just 3840 pounds. This means that 8% of the people living in the United Kingdom are having to live on less than 4000 pounds each year.

For some people, it is easy to get in to a job. Connections through family or friends, or simple good luck. For others, finding a job is even harder to do. There are many reasons for this. Results not being high enough, education being missed due to complications, or the company simply looking for something else. Whatever the reason, it is easy to become disheartened when being rejected by so many companies. This is where an apprenticeship can help.

There are many advantages to choosing an apprenticeship, or applying for an apprenticeship, over applying for a job. If a person has tried their luck at many jobs and had no joy, then applying for an apprenticeship could be the answer to their problems.

With an apprenticeship, the apprentice is taking on the role of a job, whilst also earning qualifications. This means that they are having money come in to their bank account, and more credit put to their names. A qualification gained through an apprenticeship can open more doors than a college-based qualification, due to the on-hand training of the job given as the apprenticeship is gone through.

Apprentices are offered full support throughout their training, having managers and staff to help whenever is needed. This means that they can often find themselves excelling as they would not in another place, and that training is easier and quicker to get through. Being put into a work environment can be daunting, but the people involved respect that about apprenticeships, and will be willing to offer the support and help needed.

Whilst learning and earning, another bonus to apprenticeships is the addition of paid holidays. The length of these holidays is up to the employers discursion, yet is usually somewhere in the allowance of 20 days or more. Where this is not a lot of time compared to college breaks, it is a lot of time within the working world, and it is good for an apprentice to become used to this before becoming a full-time employee.

Taking up an apprenticeship is a way to learn a new skill, on the go. Gaining first-hand experience from dealing with the trials and tribulations of a work area, no matter what they may be. An apprentice learns to become a quick thinker, and gains the ability to handle problems in their fields quickly and efficiently. The first thing an apprentice is assured of is that it is okay to make mistakes, but that they must be learnt from.

In the year 2010, rioters took to the streets of London, in what started out as a peaceful protest. This protest was made in the name of university fees, and their increase. Many people felt it an unjust move, as it would mean more people would be without the chance to further their education. Another benefit to an apprenticeship is that there are most times no fees, and that a person is being paid to be trained and educated; the complete opposite of university and the fees they put upon tuition.

A customer service apprenticeship can open the doors to a lot more job opportunities than just the field of customer service. With the role of a customer service apprentice, the apprentice adopts, and learns, many new skills. One of the most important skills that is employed and enhanced in the fields of customer service is that of communication. It is key for people to recognise and understand people and their needs with ease, and a customer service apprenticeship gives the apprentice the tools to learn all of that, and more.

When taking on a customer service apprenticeship it is important to recognise the many roles that can then be taken up. Some people may choose to go on to a job that undergoes with the skills of a customer service role, such as a personal assistant or a secretary. These are respectable jobs, and quite well paid. However, others may strive for a more competitive career further, by stepping in to the world of administration, and becoming an executive.
