subject: What Is Islam [print this page] Since the creation of man, every believer is always jealous towards his religion and beliefs. He is always taking quick reactions when someone attacks his religious views and concepts, even if he himself is not following it by the book. He always defends it with all his might and wish that everyone sees it in the most appropriate way.
In the past year, we have seen different ways in defending Islam, its views and beliefs. We have seen people talking about it, saying it as the only way of life and starting saying that whoever is not following it should be dealt with either in violence or talking it out. We suddenly had two phases appearing like The Botherhood and Salafeyeen. They talked about Islam, explained it from their own viewpoint and accused who is not one of their groups; either by saying that he is not a real moslem or doesn't really understands Islam. We passed so many incidents in Egypt presenting this wrongly kind of thinking about Islam. We had it at the time of the elections of the parliament, when people started spreading among the Egyptians: who will not elect one of the Botherhood or Salafyeen is not a real moslem and at times were being attacked wither by words or psychically. We also had it at the times of the presidential elections: when the Botherhood and Salafyeen started to convince the people that Islam wont raise except through a man who is one of them and that whoever will be elected outside those two, will be considered a traitor or an ignorant and so on. Then came the issue of the loan from the IMF, whether is legal from Islamic point of view or not and ending with the issue of the offending of Prophet Muhammed and how we should react towards it.
As much as I feel insulted by this film and offended by it, as much as I am angry from lots of moslems who allowed this film to be spread not by preventing at the embassies, but by not really being a lead of a good moslem. Unfortunetly, what is happening nowadays in the Arab World is not the Islam. Lots of people dont really bother to understand what they are reading in the Holy Quran or the words of Prophet Muhammed in order to know why and when words were said and how to react accordingly "Whosoever brings in an innovation in these affairs of ours (the religion) which is not there, it is to be rejected". Islam was never by killing or forcing people into belief or by violent reactions towards anyone refusing to like Islam or belief in it (The Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him-said: "God did not send me to be harsh, or cause harm, but, He sent me to teach and make things easy." - Sahih Muslim). God has sent Prophet Muhammed to teach people morals, ethics and to worship Allah. Not everyone really understands this and is trying to force people to do what God and His prophet didnt do. Islam is more really about peace, love, being one hand, forgiveness even to the people who were most hurtful to you : Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him- said:"Whoever suffers an injury and forgives (the person responsible), God will raise his status to a higher degree and remove one of his sins. So, it is really about the ability to forgive the most people hurted you and be able to control your temper, hatred and not allowing anything to react in a way, you might regret later. It is defending justice and right; it is using wisdom against ignorance and many other aspects which many dont really understand.
Prophet Muhammed was sent to the people to be a teacher, a model to follow in his manners and his worshipping to Allah (None of you truly believers until your own inclinations are in accordance with the message I have brought). He came to teach us how to become a good moslem in all way of living. Prophet Muhammed PBUH was a very kind man, very respectable in his manners, wished that all people to love each other, treat each other with just, without envy or wishing anything bad to him According to Anas ibn Malik, the Prophet (SAW) said to him, O my son, if you can act in such a way that you spend your mornings and your evenings without wishing anyone ill, then that is how you should always act. Then he added, O my son, this is my way. And anyone who loves my ways loves me. And anyone who loves me will live with me in Paradise. (Muslim). Prophet Muhammed was also an example how to kindly treat even the servant that works for you God will only show mercy to those of His servants who do well to others. Prophet Muhammed came to tell people how to take care of each other by being supportive to someone who needs help , money , food, sick and even kind to the prisoners You should visit the sick, feed the hungry and set prisoners free. (Al-Bukhari, on the authority of Abu Musa al-Ashari). He was sent to us to tell mankind that morals and ethics are the reality of happiness and acceptance within. That man should indulge with it, with nice words, with fine behavior and a man of his word On the Day of Judgment, what will weigh most heavily in favor of the believer will be his good morals. God abhors those who indulge in shameless talk and use indecent language, At-Tirmidhi, on the authority of Abud Darda. He even told his fellowmen that the perfection of faith is to be good in manners and kind to his wife The most perfect in faith amongst believers is who is best manner and kindest to his wife. He also taught us to love one another, not to break down the person in front of us by searching for faults in him, so instead of really trying to changing him and allowing him to become a good example, we break down his character and turn him into a negative character "Do not spend your time finding fault with one another." (Al-Bukhari). So, by finding the good in us, bring it up, encourage it, have patience and showing our love to one another is the way of becoming good and positive in our society.
As we read more about Prophet Muhammed PBUH , we learn that he was sent mercy to mankind, that he was a man who could never be anything except a chance to follow in his way of life to gain salvation in a time, only our good deeds and mercy of Allah that will assures us heaven. If we compared how he lived, how we wanted us to live like, we will find that 80 % of the moslems are actually far away from his way of living. That it is not our role to force people into believing or doing what we want or what we think God wants. It is being an example ourselves, by following the good morals in life; we will encourage people to enter Islam without forcing anyone into it. That we must understand Gods words in the Holy Quran: you have your religion and I have mine. So, Allah and his Prophet was clear to respect others beliefs and not hurting one another either by attacking or mocking or in any other way which is not in manners that we should follow . Islam was a the perfect way to teach people to react in certain situations; that barbarian reactions, anger and using the power of weapon is not the way Allah and His prophet wants us to be acting like. Islam is about being patient, about negotiations, about communicating in manners and understanding very well the situation before taking any hazard reactions. "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein; and the Wrath and the Curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him". So, the killing of many moslems in the world in the name of Allah is actually forbidden and unfortunately not all moslems understand that. The killing that happened few days ago of the moslems in front of the embassies actually is a disaster and it has nothing to do with Islam. In addition, Allah and His Prophet Muhammed forbid to harm or attack any armless man or anyone who is living in your country ,depending on you to protect him. Prophet Muhammed also was clear that every neighbor whatever his religion is , a must to be treated well and to be taken care of I swear by Him in whose hands is my soul that no one is a true believer unless he likes for his neighbour the same thing he likes for himself. Allah has said And justly with them for Allah loveth so, it is clear we are forbid to mistreat any non-moslem, we are forbidden to harm them in any ways and we are forbidden to kill anyone who is unarmed and who has not harmed us by any means. As a conclusion, which have been done the past days , considered as a disaster for Islam and the moslems and I strongly regret and refuse and so Allah and His prophet. Whoever sets a good example of good conduct in Islam will have his reward and that to be given to anyone else who will follow it; and whoever sets a bad example in Islam will surely bear its burden on the Day of Resurrection as well as that of anyone else who practiced it.
