subject: Virtual Office Services Company Your Wall Street Office Remembers Neil Armstrong [print this page]

A lot has been going on in the world these days, from nasty political campaigns to tragic shootings, but recently we were forced to pause and remember one good thing that, while it happened over 40 years ago, still resonates with people of all ages today.

On August 25th, Neil Armstrong left this world for the final time. These days we seem to have too few role models to fire our imaginations, to make us dream bigger and to convince us that anything is possible.

Ask any kid in the past 50 years what they wanted to be when they grew up and more likely than not included in the myriad of pie-in-the-sky dreams would be an astronaut. One man in particular would reach the pinnacle of success, the goal the entire space program was working toward. Armstrong would be the first man to walk on the moon and in doing so become the embodiment of the American can do spirit.

Oddly enough, when Armstrong was a child, walking on the moon was an unimaginable. But it stands as a testament to American entrepreneurialism and ingenuity that Armstrong would utter that famous phrase, "One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind," on July 20, 1969, fewer than seven years after President Kennedy issued a challenge for the country to fly a man to the moon and return him safely before the end of the 1960s.

For some of us it"s hard to remember, for others it"s hard to imagine, what impact those 10 words on that July evening had on those who were watching it unfold on live television. With all that"s gone on in the past few years, we sometimes forget that we are a country that prides itself in doing the impossible, building success out of nothing and leading by example.

It"s time we recapture that spirit. For those of you who have found yourselves out of work the past few years, it"s time to embrace the challenge, explore the unknown, set out and build something from nothing. Use the tools at your disposal: your intelligence, your skills and an entrepreneurial spirit that has defined every American generation.
