subject: Discover The Best Festivals In Grenada [print this page]

Grenada hotels are popular for their incredible setting, luxurious style and proximity to some truly stunning beaches. However, if you visit at the right time of year then you may also be able to enjoy some of the spectacular annual festivals. Here is a quick guide to some of the best.

Sailing Festival

Sailing is one of the most popular activities on the island next to diving, and it therefore makes perfect sense that there should be a festival on the island to celebrate the sport.

The Sailing Festival is an annual event, popular with participants from all over the world. The races here are a real spectacle to behold even if you are not taking part in the action yourself. The festival lasts for four days and is usually held in January.

Carriacou Carnival

This is an unmissable festival if you want to experience the authentic spirit of Grenada. Hotels are located all over the island, but Carriacou is the place to be to enjoy the festivities, so make sure you either stay nearby or travel here to watch the show.

The festival includes street dancing, parades, colour, noise, music and more, and it takes place in March every year.

Spicemas

This festival is held in August every year and is one of the most popular for tourists and locals alike. It is one of the largest cultural events on the island, and celebrates the history and heritage of the land and the people. Tourists staying in Grenada hotels will be able to enjoy a spectacular celebration with parades, music, costumes, dancing and more. In short, this is everything that a carnival should be.

Rainbow City Festival

This festival is a fairly new addition to the cultural calendar of the island and began in 1985. It takes place in the Parish of St Andrew, in the east of the island, but is important for people all over Grenada. This also takes place in August so you may be able to enjoy this as well as Spice Mas if you visit the island at this time.

Get in the Festival Spirit

If you want to enjoy some real fun and excitement on your holiday then try to time your visit to coincide with some of these festivals when you are in Grenada. Hotels here offer visitors a luxurious experience in the perfect setting and, if you come at the right time of the year, a fun filled festival atmosphere as well!
