subject: How To Resolve The Parking Issues In Housing Societies? [print this page]

Housing societies have many benefitsHousing societies have many benefits. There is better security, better management, and amenities for its residents. Also, there is better upkeep of parks, club houses, common rooms and other features and an organized way of functioning. But, at the same time, there are some problems as well. One of the most common problems is that of parking space. It is not that the societies do not have the provision of parking while doing the planning. Rather, it is the sheer number of cars which every unit has that compounds the problem. Most of the societies provide dedicated parking space for one car only such as BPTP Resort Faridabad and charge for the same but it is quite common to find a household having more than one car at their disposal which creates the problem of parking. Often, there are instances of residents engaging in heated arguments with one another or with the society management with respect to this problem. So, where does the solution lie?

Provision for more parking

It is high time that the builders realise this that the provision of more parking needs to be created. Providing space for one car is not sufficient to meet the needs of the people who have more than one car. Naturally, they can not park their other cars outside the society. It also needs to be realised that the roads of the society shall be sufficiently broad so as to permit the parking of cars on either sides and at the same time allowing smooth passage of cars. Further, the builders can develop some of the spaces of the project, besides the designated parking, to enable parking of cars within the society.

Strict enforcement of dedicated paid parking rules

Ideally a dedicated parking space for which the buyer has paid the sum needs to be kept specifically for that person. Even if the person is not yet residing, there shall be no encroachment on his rightful parking. In order to prevent the residents quarrelling over parking due to wrongful use of another person space, it is better to create segregated spaces and each space shall be chained and locked to permit its use only by the authorised person.

Visitors shall not be allowed park vehicles inside

This is a rule which is being implemented in most of the societies. The visitors are not allowed to take their vehicles inside the society due to congested spaces and non availability of parking. However, there can be some exceptions to this rule especially when a person is not able to move on own and requires that the vehicle be allowed to enter the society in order to meet the resident. Even if a person takes his or her vehicle inside, there shall be a check to ensure whether the car is parked at right place.

Projects such as BPTP Resort are planned to reduce the parking related conflicts to the minimum.
