Well today, we're going to talk about cosmetic surgery abroad. You might want to know what is happening with cosmetic surgery overseas.
Well, I'm happy to report that in Canada, we have some of the best cosmetic surgery on the planet. We are second to none and I'm very happy to say that we get some of the cosmetic procedures before anyone else. Recently our new laser to treat cellulite came along called Cellulaze and we had the laser at least a year before the United States did so we are experts at it.
But what is happening elsewhere in the world ?
In the United States, there are new advances coming along all the time, great things, new things, wonderful things, lasers, breakthroughs in liposuction, breakthroughs in fillers.
What about Europe?
Now Europe is a big place for cosmetic surgery. Fillers for wrinkles, for example - over in Europe are over 300 of them and there are more and more coming out everyday. Fillers there are being used in such ways that they create beauty. They lift the skin. They give people back new smiles.
But guess what's happening in other countries.
Well cosmetic surgery is a global trend, and the latest and best techniques are spreading around the world.
Mexico, South America, Korea, Japan - all are getting the newest and best cosmetic procedures too. Why? Because doctors are being trained in places such as Europe, Canada and the United States, then returning home and taking these new procedures and skills with them.
Now I was over in Egypt recently. I was lecturing at Sharm Derma which is one of the biggest groups of doctors in the Middle East. And there, I saw some of the best cosmetic procedures being done. Stem cells are being used. Water-jet liposuction. Lasers. And Botox and dermal fillers are still number one on the list.
Another interesting feature is that although most common and popular cosmetic surgery procedures are available in many parts of the world, there are definate regional trends where certain procedures are more in demand than others. For example breast augmentations are still most popular in USA, but in Singapore it is eyelid surgery that is in most demand. In other regions, rhinoplasty (nose jobs) are popular for cultural reasons, as are 'butt' augmentations. Some fascinating differences have been identified across the globe, thats for sure.
