subject: What Is Crushing And Screening Equipment? [print this page]

In many industries, mining especially, it is sometimes necessary for the rocks and earth that you are digging up and moving to be crushed down (often to make it easier to transport) and to be passed through a screen (often where certain more precious parts of the rock are removed). This requires the use of special crushing and screening equipment, as not all machinery is designed to crush up stone that has been baked into hardness using the wrong sort of machines could actually cause you to damage them beyond repair.

So, what is the various crushing and screening equipment on the market?

Mobile Crusher

This is a machine that can be driven around the worksite by a worker to the areas where it is needed. It features a feed opening, which rock, earth and other debris is fed into. This feed leads the rock into the body of the equipment where it is crushed up into tiny little pieces, which are then fed out the other side on a conveyor belt.

Impactors

This machine is available in a stationary model that requires rock and other debris to be brought to it as well as in a transportable model that can be hooked up to a truck and towed to where it is needed. Similar to a crusher, this piece of equipment is fed rock, earth and other debris that it then crushes up into small pieces.

Screen

This piece of equipment is often transportable, but needs to be hooked onto the back of a truck and towed to where it is needed. A screen features a large opening where excavators can tip rock, dirt and other debris. It passes over a large screen over the opening where the larger pieces are sifted out and the smaller silt is collected.

Reclaimer

This piece of equipment, like a screen, is transportable, but does need to be towed to where it is needed. An excavator or other piece of heavy machinery feeds rocks, earth and other debris into the hopper where it passes through the body of the machine. The larger pieces are sifted away from the smaller ones before being discarded on a conveyor belt.

As mentioned above, there are a number of industries that make use of crushing and screening equipment. Mining often uses the machines to crush down the rock and earth they are clearing away to make it easier for transporting. When mining for precious substances, such as metal ores and even gemstones, the machines are used to sift out these materials from the worthless ones.
