subject: Laminate Flooring Where Can You Use It At Home? [print this page]

Laminate flooring is, how shall we say it, the "new kid on the block" in the flooring world, having been introduced just recently. If you have not seen laminate flooring in a home yet, you are going to be in for a big surprise. Laminate flooring is all about obtaining that real wood floor look, without having to have all the needed care for a wood floor in the long run. This flooring can be installed in any room, any part of your home, but just make it a point that moisture is not going to be a concern. So we expect there will be none of you installing laminate flooring in your laundry room, kitchen or other rooms that are susceptible to damp. But laminate flooring is a smash hit just about anywhere else, including your bedrooms, living rooms and hallways.

Laminate flooring is easy to care for. This floor would ideally be dry-cleaned, either with a plain old dust mop or a wet mop that is extremely dry paradox alert! As with a wood floor, you really don't to ever wet the flooring in your home. These floors can get contorted if exposed to too many wet or damp surfaces and circumstances. Water that seeps into the flooring material gets trapped inside. Real wood when exposed to these situations can contort and change in shape, and the same thing would happen when water trapped inside laminate flooring dries up. Don't worry, laminate flooring installed properly and care for can last years and years in your home, often times longer than linoleum or tile flooring.

You can install this flooring anywhere as long as it is on a flat, or even surface. There is a workaround in the event that your floor does not have a flat sub floor, and that would be to simply set up a new sub floor, then installing the laminate flooring where it should be. Laminate flooring is going to 'go' together and 'fit' together better when it is all level, and it is going to last longer as it is going to connect together best when on a level surface.

You can install a laminate flooring in a bathroom to control the amount of water on the floor. If you make it a point to cook and/or prepare food with care and make sure you minimize the spillage of water, you too can install laminate flooring in your kitchen. Because wood flooring applies the same principles, you certainly won't be a "pioneer" when it comes to these unconventional uses. If you regularly hang out with your family in an entertainment room, or in a multi-faceted basement with several rooms, laminate flooring should work great there as well. Lastly, laminate flooring is a great choice for pet owners, thus making it easier for them to sweep off their pets' hair during those times when they can't help but shed their old coats.
