subject: All You Wanted To Know About Tutus [print this page]

A simple skirt made out of elastic and tulle, the tutu is an all-time favorite of every girl. Girls find tutus ideal for dress up, for photos, for errands with moms, and for twirling at the rave parties. This fluffy, colorful dress simply turns a girl into a princess.

Tutus were originally the costume dresses that ballet dancers wore for performances. The original tutu was quite heavy and long. However, over the years tutus have evolved and various fabrics, designs, and styles have come up in this evolution. In addition, the early tutus that covered the whole leg to the modern day tutu that comes out straight from the hips, they have changed a lot since their inception.

Tutus usually come in two designs. One is the skirt style that starts at the waist and extends till the knees. The other starts at the hips with a dropped waist. This is the basic tutu and is the most common variety indeed. This is just an elastic waistband with two or three layers of tulle attached as a skirt.

Tutus come in many attractive colors. There are the single colored tutus, as well as the twin shade and multi colored tutu skirts too. A rainbow tutu with 4 layers of tulle, each having a different vibrant color, is quite popular and is worn largely by girls on rave parties. These skirts usually have a large bow made with the same four colors which is attached along the waistline. These skirts are attractive and a pure fun to wear.

Tutus are accessorized with sequins, feathers, laces, and other stuff to make them look really pretty. Some tutus even come with LED lights to let the wearer show her up clearly in dark or stand out in the crowd. Satin, net, and chiffon are the materials that are commonly used for making tutus as they are light and make it easy for girls to twirl and to show off their elegant foot movements during a dance. Also, tutus made of light fabrics beautifully and clearly highlight the feminine curves and cuts.

Tutu skirts can be worn over leggings, or leg warmers, and even just like that.

If you want to stay covered-up, you can buy a matching legging or a leg warmer to wear with your tutu skirt. But if you want to flaunt those sleek and sexy legs of yours, wear them like that. You can also wear a pair of gogo boots along with your skirt to make a stylish appearance at a party or when going out with friends to a rave concert.
