The Bangalore international airport is located at about 6 km from the centre of the city. There are many domestic and international flights that serve the Bangalore International airport. The nearest airport to Kodaikanlal is the Madurai airport which is located at about 120 km from Kodaikanal. There are two flights that ply from Bangalore to Madurai on a daily basis namely the Paramount Airlines and the Air Deccan Airlines. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach Kodaikanal from Madurai via road.

The railway station nearest to Kodaikanal is Kodai Road and is about 80 km from kodaikanal. The Tuticurin Express plies from Bangalore to Kodai Road seven days a week. It takes about 8 hours and 30 minutes to reach Kodai Road from Bangalore. It departs from Bangalore CY JN at 21:20 and arrives at Kodai Road at 06:33. The train fares are Rs. 197 for Sleeper Class, Rs. 522 for A/C 3 Tier and Rs. 785 for A/C 2 Tier. Advance online booking facilities are available for train journeys. It is always advisable to do advance booking, especially if one is planning to travel to the destination during the peak seasons.

There are many buses from Bangalore to Kodaikanal ranging from AirBus to A/C sleeper and coaches. The bus fares range from Rs. 340 to Rs. 514. You can also hire A/C or non A/C taxis from Bangalore to Kodaikanal at charges varying from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000 for a round trip. Travelling by bus is ideal for people travelling alone. If you are travelling with your family it would be more comfortable to hire a taxi.
