subject: Is Christian Network Marketing A Legitimate Work-at-home Opportunity? [print this page]

If you're searching for work-at-home opportunities, you've likely seen advertisements for Christian network marketing. There are opportunities in this field and there are scams. Let's learn how to tell the difference.

If you see an obscure ad that claims you can become a millionaire in a few short months, it's probably a scam. If your "interview" is conducted in a hotel conference room with 150 other applicants, it sounds like a scam.

If a sharp-dressed, smooth-talking man stands behind a podium and whips out pictures of his happy family aboard their yacht and if he tells you that for only a $10,000 up-front investment, this could be you look out, it's probably a new version of the old pyramid scheme.

The thing is with millions of people unemployed or underemployed, charlatans easily find victims ripe for picking. An easy way to determine if the Christian network marketing opportunity you're investigating is legitimate is to examine the product.

Smarmy salesmen can sell anything, even if it doesn't exist.

The Christian based company sells products or services that people need or want for a fair price.

Mary Kay, Inc. is a prime example of: good products, fair pricing and a strong founder, whose values were grounded in the Christian faith. Her guiding principle was: put God first, family second and work third.

This brings up the next point to examine in Christian network marketing. Is the leader visible? Does he/she care about their employees and customers? With modern technology, it's easy to research a company and its founders.

For example, do a search for internet websites on companies like Amway and Shaklee that have been around and established a good track record. Amway lists their "people" and philosophies. With over three million people who work for them, Amway believes in training people to lead and inspire other people.

Both Mary Kay and Amway offer incentive based rewards to their successful sales staff.

So, now we've established that Christian network marketing companies should: offer a quality product, have a solid reputation and offer a first-rate mentoring program.

But, can you make money?

Whether you've decided to venture into internet or real world Christian network marketing you must realize, in essence, you will become a business owner.

If you've done your homework and signed-on with a reputable company, the actual money-making is now in your court. It's important to understand that all network marketing companies survive through via "downline" principle.

You convince people to sign-up under you and they convince people to sign-up under them and so on. In principle, this is a fair way to make money. But, when companies are more interested in securing large investments than delivering a viable product, the only investors who make money are the first-in.

The people whose names are on top of the pyramid split proceeds of subsequent investors and you'll be fortunate to get a thin dime in return for your $10,000 investment.

A Christian network marketing company will exchange your investment for product. You'll make a commission each time you make a sale and when distributors in your downline make sales.

As a practicing Christian you have an immediate advantage for building your downline. When congregation members see your product and see that you are making honest money, their interest will be sparked. Before long, your downline of distributors will manifest itself like a miracle!
