subject: Car Comparison -mahindra Xuv 500 And Mahindra Scorpio [print this page]

The two of the best and most competing Mahindra and Mahindra siblings, the XUV 500 and the Scorpio are to be studied carefully before choosing to buy a Mahindra SUV. These two cars one can say is in a great fight among themselves in the car market. The following is a detailed car comparison based on its various features:

Exteriors- The Mahindra XUV 500s beautiful design with its nice grille and sporty fender having dynamic curves shouts masculinity and aggression. Whereas the Scorpio in its latest version featuring multi-focal headlamps, road armour bumpers, bonnet air scoop and sporty fog lamps has quite a boxy catch with its typical SUV design.

Interiors- The Scorpio has an interior that is quite simple with some of its highlights including dual air bags, ABS, tyre-tronics, speed alert, cruise control and rain and light sensors but the XUV altogether means class and style. With its dual tone color theme and with its silver garnish on the dashboard and door trips, laptop storage compartment, sunglass holder, voice command activated control, 6 inch touch screen information system with GPS and iPod activity the XUV is simply amazing. It also includes some basic features such as 6 airbags, cruise control, ABS, ESP, foldable 2nd and 3rd row seats and premium leather upholstery.

Dimensions- When comparing between the XUV 500s and Scorpios dimensions it is noticed that the XUV is much wider and longer than the Scorpio. The Scorpio has a longer wheelbase where as the XUV has a taller headroom.

Engine- Both the cars have diesel engines but the XUV is slightly more powerful with a max power of140 BHP @ 3750 RPM and max torque of Nm @ 1600 to 2800 RPM, whereas the Scorpio has an engine with a max power of 120 BHP @ 4000 RPM and max torque of 290 Nm @ 1800-2800 RPM. Also with the RMP levels of the XUV is better than the Scorpio, making the XUV more responsive. Talking about its mileage, again the XUV beats the Scorpio with a 15KPLM mileage whereas the Scorpio has a mileage of 12KMPL

Driving and Handling- The XUV is most definitely a drivers car and does a great job on the road. Whereas the Scorpio is good in terms of driving dynamics.

Price range- The Mahindra XUV is priced at a price range of 10.80 Lakhs to 12.88 Lakhs and the Scorpio is priced at a price range of 10.42 Lakhs to 11.60 Lakhs, varying with the different car variants. Notice the difference that with just a 30 K difference, XUV could be a better option as it provides many features the Scorpio dont have but keep in mind that the Scorpio is a 4 wheel drive whereas the XUV is a two wheel drive.

With the above clear analysis and Car Comparison of both the Mahindra siblings, the common misconception that they are probably the same has been taken away. Thus these above mentioned points will certainly help in making the right choice.
