Manufacturers view document storage boxes as an essential tool that can be used on a daily basis. Big companies such as department stores and supermarkets are most likely to document storage boxes because they are constantly shipping products. Office storage boxes are used by businesses that need to record file specific boxes. These specific file storage boxes are made with custom labeling to keep track of what items are stored in each.

Environmentalists stress the importance of the recycling of document storage boxes and maximization of resources. The resources are best used when they produce heavy duty storage boxes or big storage boxes. Other archive boxes are still needed with corrugated medium to be sturdy but big storage boxes are designed especially because they are needed for a variety of items. For environmentalists, Recycling one ton of corrugated storage boxes saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 11 barrels, 462 gallons of oil, and nine cubic yards of landfill space. By recycling one ton of archive boxes cuts pollution by 95%. Recycled file storage boxes only takes 75 percent of the energy needed to make new cardboard and lessens the emission of sulfur dioxide that is produced when making pulp from wood trees.
