subject: Gardening Is The Best Full Time Occupation [print this page]

Gardening can be a full-time and life consuming hobby at times. The reason for this is that there is so much that can be done in a garden, and so much that people want to do that there is never any time to sit back and enjoy what has been accomplished. This is a good thing however because by being constantly busy in the garden by the time you finish there has been a drastic change to it. This means that you get the chance to sit down and enjoy all of the effort that you have been putting into your garden over the course of the year.

Many people decide to build items in their garden that will be useful for them to use in the future. These items can be anything from an obelisk for a rose bush to climb up to a greenhouse with enough space to grow all of your fruit and veg every year. One particularly essential structure is the garden shed. Without a shed people will have to resort to bringing everything they need to garden outside with them and then bring back what has not been used into the house at the end of the day. A shed is somewhere for everything that does not need to be in the home to be stored so that it does not take up any room inside. It also means that you will not have to cart everything up and down the garden throughout the day.

A greenhouse is a brilliant item to have in the garden. With one of these you can grow a wide range of plants, some of which cannot be grown without one. Tomato plants go wild if they are grown in a greenhouse because they get the extra heat that they need to grow big and strong and produce lots of vegetables for you to eat. This is the same for many other vegetable producing plants as they are naturally from the Mediterranean, where the weather is a lot warmer than in the UK. With regular watering and care some people can grow enough tomatoes to feed their neighbours as well as them.

Many people do not have the space to grow any plants in their garden. This may be because their garden has been paved over or that it is nothing but a single track of grass. For these people there is a solution to be found in allotments, these are pieces of land that can be bought or rented and used all year round to grow plants in. Allotments are great value for money because they give someone a lot of space for a little cost, and if the space is used carefully people can grow rows and rows of vegetables that will feed many people for months.

Some people decide to split their garden into plots to grow in. The advantage of this is that you can see where you are growing different types of plants, from vegetables to fruits and even simply flowers that make the garden look pretty. By marking out plots in the garden you also gain the advantage of being able to track where you have grown in previous years, and you can attempt to leave those areas for a year or so, in order for the soil to become nutritious once more. If you continually use a single patch of soil to grow in without putting in some new compost then the plants absorb all of the nutrients and the next time something is planted there it will not grow very well.

Loads of people love to have a Christmas tree in the garden. Growing one of these is really easy as they are an evergreen known as either a pine or fur tree and they can grow to become rather large. These can be used year upon year as the family Christmas tree and grown in a bucket to ensure they can be easily moved and watered. It is best to have two of these trees and to alternate between each one every other year to give them a chance to recover from spending a winter in an unfamiliar climate.

Anyone that owns a garden has the biggest area in which to grow plants. This is great for avid gardeners as they can spend hours in the garden simply planting, pruning and watering, and all to make sure their plants are strong and healthy. With a big garden you can also grow whatever you want and care for it for years. By planting a tree you are investing in the garden and making sure that it becomes a prominent feature there. Anyone that owns their garden and sets it up properly is building their future by their home.
