subject: Perfect Controller For Fleet Monitoring [print this page]

The NPE/iMod industrial computer is commonly used in various industrial sectors. One of the sectors is the automotive industry, where the J1939 protocol is often used. This protocol enables collection of all the data provided by a vehicle. NPE/iMod is a perfect device for data collection, data logging and data sharing among end-users. In order to operate the NPE/iMod platform in the J1939 networks you just need to use the GW-7228 module. The module communicates with the NPE/iMod computer through the RS-485 interface and the Modbus RTU protocol. In addition, the NPE/iMod industrial computer is equipped with various additional input/output interfaces, this is why all the information send with the J1939 network can be shared outside.

This network is mainly used in the automotive industry. The J1939 is used in trucks, agricultural and water vehicles, trailers and sometimes passenger cars. This protocol enables to access all the information which you can obtain from vehicles: The J1939 protocol is commonly used to transfer information in diesel engine devices - e.g. vessels, power generators, industrial pumps. All the data collected from the devices can be stored on the NPE/iMod industrial computer. It is possible due to the built-in 1GB memory and the 2 GB SD/MMC card support. The data can be stored in CSV files, which are easily edited with any office application. You can also save information in an SQL database. The NPE/iMod computer enables data storage both in the internal PostgreSQL and SQLite databases, and in an external database located in another server.

Due to a built-in GPRS modem you can save data to an external SQL database - the modem enables constant connection and sending data e.g. a logistics centre at a certain time or every pre-defined interval. In addition, the NPE/iMod computer can be easily equipped with a GPS - it enables a full vehicle control. Such a solution can be used in logistics - the logistics centres have full control over a vehicle fleet. Apart from the position of a vehicle, a supervising person can get all the necessary information about the parameters of a vehicle.

The NPE/iMod telemetry module enables easy and intuitive connection of external devices using the Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU protocols. This protocol is widelymodus TCP used in automation and measuring systems. All data transferred to the NPE/iMod computer can be logged and archived both in the CSV files and the SQL databases.
