subject: Quality Mens Designer Clothing: The Search Begins [print this page]

Finding mens designer clothing has never been so easy. With the vast array of online shops now catering exclusively to male fashions, the range and quality of mens designer clothing has never been better. However despite, or perhaps even because of, this wide range of choice, there is still one article of clothing that is difficult to track down the perfect winter coat. Whether your prefer the classical look of an elegant black Crombie, or the more casual and countrified form of a waxed jacket, finding something that will see you through those cold winter months in style and comfort can be difficult. This is perhaps because we unrealistically expect one coat to suffice for all eventualities and social occasions when the fact is that we would never apply the same skewed logic to a suit or other form of clothing. However, with a rotation of two styles of winter coat, you will be guaranteed to see out the winter in style and panache whatever the weather throws at you.

Your foremost staple for great winter wear should be the overcoat. This can be either in the form of a traditional woollen or cashmere Epson or three quarter length, or another long form coat such as a Mackintosh or trench. Yet whichever permutation you opt for, the important point is that it needs to be formal enough to wear to the most exclusive events and social occasions. A long jacket is necessary to ensure that your suit is properly covered as, quite frankly, there is probably no greater sartorial vulgarity than wearing a coat that doesnt extend further than the skirts of your jacket. To do so it to break perhaps one of the most inviolable of fashion expectations, so make sure that you have a good overcoat in your wardrobe, even if you only dig it out a few times a year.

The second must-have piece of outerwear for mens designer clothing is the trusted wax jacket. This perennial staple is perfect for almost every situation offering great protection from the elements, portability and a greater sense of fashion. Barbour is, of course, the leader in this realm, but dont let this put you off from exploring other great makes. The great thing about a waxed jacket is that its smart enough to wear to a restaurant or bar, but relaxed enough for a trip to the pub or a weekend in the country.
