subject: Becoming Closer To God And Being Loneliness-free [print this page] With all the stresses and strains of modern life, God is the one factor that can make everything much easier to bear with. Unfortunately, many people seem to treat God as an afterthought, and when trying to deal with the problems that we all normally face, He is often not even considered as part of the equation. This is quite unfortunate, as for every problem that life throws at us, the only one that can offer a real lasting solution is God.
Loneliness is a plague upon mankind from which there seems to be no relief. It is ironic to think that we are living with an extraordinary amount of technology, and yet we still can't escape from the powerful grip of loneliness and alienation. Despite the availability of technological innovations that make it almost absurdly easy to make contact with anyone from around the globe, we still have trouble maintaining relationships with the people around us.
What is the reason for such widespread discontent, and why do we find it so hard to escape from loneliness, depression, and other concerns that plague the human psyche in this day and age? Part of the reason may be that we have largely-as a people-turned away from God.
Loneliness is an interesting-albeit, tragic-thing. It so often causes people to retreat into isolation and solitude when the exact opposite is actually what can make it better. Perhaps it is because we have been conditioned for decades to take matters in our hands and rely on our own strengths and abilities. Regardless of the reasons, few would think that the lasting solution to all our problems could be found in God. Loneliness and other concerns are therefore dealt with using the power of your own minds or other self-help approaches. For the chronically lonely who is just a few steps away from total depression, the results can be disastrous.
There is only so far that you can get by relying on your own powers to solve your problems. The risk here is to enter into a feedback loop of overconfidence alternating with periods of intense self doubt. There is often the pressure to solve all of our problems on our own, with no thought at all given to how much help we can get from God. Loneliness therefore becomes a constant companion from which there is no escape.
When trying to deal with loneliness and all the other emotional concerns that have largely become apart of the modern day emotional landscape, the first and last recourse should always be God. Loneliness and depression-no matter how trivial or serious-has the power to take over our lives and cause us to forget the really important things. Things can often seem hopeless to someone who in such a desperate condition, and the supposed solutions can often cause more harm than good, and drive us even deeper into despair. Instead of relying on methods that provide no lasting solution, turn to God, and loneliness will no longer be a cause for concern.
