subject: Turn To God And End Loneliness [print this page]

Loneliness is a state of being that arises from being isolated or devoid of companionship. When it occurs, loneliness can be one of the most devastating forces you can experience. With the power to affect our mental, emotional and physical health, loneliness can severely affect the quality of our lives.

For most people, loneliness is a condition that can be solved via purely physical means or changes in the way we think and act. Since so few people would think to turn to God, loneliness is often dealt with without concern for the spiritual aspect of the problem. This is quite unfortunate as the solution to so many problems lies with absolute faith and total trust in the will of God. Loneliness can definitely make a person weak and depressed, but relying on God's grace can work wonders in terms of reducing its effects, and even preventing loneliness from taking place.

There are many reasons why people are lonely without God. Loneliness can stem from isolation from friends and family, the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship...the list goes on and on. These are all legitimate reasons for feeling loneliness, although the people who suffer from them often have one thing in common, and that is the lack of faith in God. While there are many solutions to dealing with loneliness without the spiritual aspect entering into the picture, many of these methods are temporary at best.

When you put all your faith in God, loneliness ceases to become a major concern in your life. Sure you may still feel the occasional pang of loneliness, particularly if you continue to live your life alone. However, making a concerted effort to make God a primary force in your life can help greatly in reducing your chances of falling prey to loneliness, and possibly even help you avoid such feelings in the first place.

If you have been negligent in keeping up your personal relationship with God, loneliness can become a constant part of your life. You should therefore take steps to reestablish your connection with God, and loneliness should be one less thing you will have to worry about.

The first step is to talk to someone who is qualified to help you with spiritual matters. When you talk to a rabbi, a minister, a priest, or any other servant of God, loneliness becomes a lot easier to deal with. With such a person to provide you with valuable advice and guidance, even other mental and emotional concerns become a lot more manageable and possibly even almost trivial.

Far too often, we rely on our own strengths and abilities when trying to deal with our problems. As you may have realized by now, courses of action that aim to deal with loneliness using these methods can only go so far. At some point, you will have to acknowledge that there is a higher power at work in every aspect of your life. When you turn to God, loneliness can be dealt with a lot easier than if you relied on your own abilities.
