subject: Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Detailed Introduction [print this page] At 19:00, August 29, Samsung finally unveiled its new flagship product- Samsung Galaxy Note 2! The press conference witnessed the introduction to hardware equipments about Samsung Galaxy Note 2, followed by deep interpretation of its main system functions. On the scene, we took pictures of the comparison chart between the brand new Note 2 and Note. Is there any change and updating? Lets see as the following shows.
First of all, lets introduce its basic devices. Note 2 pushes the screen frontier to 5.5 inches wide, with another 720p HD Super AMOLED display. Besides, it is paired with Samsungs own Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. These, of course, are not enough. It houses 2GB RAM and supports 16GB/32GB/64GB Micro SD cards. One thing remains unchanged is its reliable 8-megapixel camera sensor on the back but a 1.9-magapixel one on the front. Yet, its battery capacity is boosted to 3.100mAh, a new surprise indeed!
Its dimensions come in at 80.5 x 151.1 x 9.4mm, yet, at 180g. Both 3G network and 4G LTE network are supported by Note 2. In terms of entertainment for movies and music, the device is capable of 1080p video-recording and broadcasting. Another great news is that Note 2 will be launching on Jelly Bean! Similar to S3, its system offers many practical functions to users, along with its advanced S Pen.
Appearance: Rounded edges and glossy finish
In appearance, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 takes some design riffs from the S3, which feels crystal clear. Although Note 2 holds a large 5.5-inch screen, its screen frontier is rather narrower, with both of its top and bottom narrowing. Judging from the pictures taken on the spot, its screen performs very well. With higher color saturation, its 16:9 screen is very satisfactory.
On the top is a headphone, nearby located a 1.9-megapixel front-end camera, while the bottom holds a Home button. The phone is a mere 9.4mm thick, which makes Note 2 very fashionable despite its large screen. In other words, if you can accept its appearance, you will get the hang of it immediately.
Next, lets focus its back. There are not too many changes on the design of its back. The top houses an 8-megapixel rear camera and a LED flashlight, and the loudspeaker is located at the bottom. Meanwhile, Note 2 possesses the most classical S Pen seated at the bottom, too. The S Pen is longer than it predecessors, guaranteeing more comfortable feelings for holding.
Comparison: Any difference between Note 2 and Note?
After analyzing the appearance design of Note 2, lets move to the comparison between Note 2 and Note to see any new improvement. Looking at the front of Note 2, we can see the screen is enlarged from 5.3-inch to 5.5-inch, but their resolutions are nearly the same, thus no visual effect is improved. Whats more, no obvious changes are made on the front design of Note 2, including the locations of headphone and front-facing camera.
Yet, the back of Note 2 differs from that of Note. Note 2 adopts the same cover material of Samsung Galaxy S3 to make its rear cover, hence strengthening fashionable aesthetic feelings, but devoid of flexibility that Note has. Except for this, no other changes are made, the locations of camera, flashlight and loudspeaker included.
On the side is subtle change. The side of Note 2 is merely 9.4mm thick, thinner than that of Note at 9.65mm. Yet, the disparity is not easy to be noticed. The only one change is the advanced S Pen. Situated at the bottom of chassis, it has stronger stability and functions.
Hardware: 1.6GHz quad-core processor+2GB RAM
Now comes to the introduction of its hardware, which ignites peoples passion. Lets see what updating has been made in terms of hardware.
Here comes its processor first. Note 2 embraces an Exynos quad-core processor at 1.6GHz, while Note holds a dual core processor rated at 1.4GHz. To ensure smooth running, Note 2 is paired with 2GB RAM.
In terms of its capacity, Note 2 maximum holds a 64GB RAM. Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC are both available in it. More importantly, its battery capacity has been updated to 3100mAh, nearly keeping pace with MAXX! This means Note 2 is not inferior to the main current phones of quad-core or dual-core in terms of battery life. Another promotion, of course, is the adoption of Android 4.1. The fluency of Note 2 has been updated to a higher level. Whats more, the advanced S Pen will bring more convenient and fast operate experience to users. Due to limited conditions, we dont know its actual operating effect, but we will emphasize this aspect right after getting the product.
