Scientists have declared that this is not good for anybodys health and the result is tremendous decrease in the life expectancy and, much more.
With the growth of machine era, almost everything is now being produced using machines. One such industry is of rubber producing. Rapidly growing rubber industry is not only manufacturing end products that are beneficial but, along with it, a huge amount of waste products in the form of ill-natured rubber. Rubber is one of many things that are found in environment these days that may take even centuries to dispose. Mainly it is these products that affect the entire ecosystem. Hence formulating ways for their proper disposal is imperative. It is essential to realize that throwing away tires and other rubber made goods, burying them in soil or burning them wont do any good. Environmentalists have been continuously spreading the word among common man and the 3Rs REDUCE, RECYCLE and REUSE, is what they stress on.
Rubber and plastic are two non biodegradable things found on Earth but are comprehensively used. Techniques for their proper disposal exist today as a result of efforts by scientists. Process to convert the waste rubber into useful reclaim rubber has already been found and is being used as well. Vulcanization is a chemical process to convert rubber into durable materials by adding certain kind of curatives. This has resulted into the production of rubber of such quality that meets the standards of todays level of technology.
Rubber reclaiming is widely used method that allows recycling of rubber to some extent. The process is carried out in high temperature and pressure conditions. The step based reclaiming process has following steps: crushing of rubber into tiny chunks, removal of fibers and metals added during vulcanization process and de-vulcanizing of the vulcanized rubber. Reclaiming process gives out rubber substance having gel-fraction. Hence reclaim, is added to get the right physical natured rubber.
Addition of reclaim is done to maintain homogeneity of the mixture at micro level, but this comes with an adverse effect. Reclaimed rubber is not much used in tread rubbers due to presence of low molecular fractions in the reclaim. However, recycled rubber has so many advantages; it has wider area of application rubber shoes, conveyor belt, tires, storage tanks and gaskets. Reclaim alone can produce many things like, carpets, garden hoses, etc. Taking eco-friendly measures like one discussed above can protect the situation of Earth from worsening. The need of hour is to act prudently and take up sustainable development techniques.
