Jubail 2 in Saudi Arabia
Furthering the massive construction boom in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is expanding Jubail with an $80 billion project. The aim is to double the livable space and add 100 industrial plants, a water treatment facility capaple of removing salt from 800,000 cubic meters of seawater a day, and oil refineries with a minimum of 350,000 barrel a day output. This massive undertaking is slated for completion in 2024
Dubailand in Dubai
Dubai, the construction capital of the world is at it again. This time they are building a theme park that will put Disney Land and Disney World to shame, even if you combined them! this massive park is almost 280 square kilometers and includes multiple theme parks, health care, museums, hotels, sports arenas, and much more. One hotel will boast over six and a half thousand rooms. The complex will also feature a 10 million square foot mall. Hold off on your shopping for a few years though, this project is not scheduled to be finished until 2025.
The International Space Station in Orbit Above Earth
Ok so maybe this one is cheating a little bit because it is not actually on the earth. But you have to admit, as projects go, it does not get more exciting than this. ISS completes a revolution around our planet every hour and a half. This multi-nation project will see over $50 billion in upgrades and upkeep in the next few years. This station houses astronauts from several countries and is the center of many zero gravity and space research. Truly a testament to what we can accomplish if we work towards a common goal.
