subject: Marble Lights Add Class And Style To Your Home [print this page]

Marble Lighting, quarried form turkey and hand crafted, is an excellent addition to any home. This bespoke and stylish type of lighting is quickly becoming a fashionable accessory to the home of the more refined and cultured consumer.

Marble is a metamorphic rock made out of limestone. When the limestone is subjected to immense amounts of pressure for a lengthy period of time, for example if the limestone is buried underneath a lot of other other rock, it is effectively crushed and turns into what we know as marble.

Marble is and always has been a rare and sought after stone and as a consequence it is more expensive than other types of stone. The ancient Greeks and Romans used marble to make statues, colouring in marble floors that would last an extremely long time.

Now we use marble for many things and marble lighting is one of them. Marble comes in various colours and depending on the effect you wish to create and the mood you want set, your choice of stone should reflect this.

Turkish marble is a very popular choice and the most common variations for marble lighting are Crystal white and Magma Onyx. Crystal White provides an even and softly spread diffused light with a nice, smooth tone and is suitable for any room in the house, especially a large living room or dining are.

Magma Onyx has two main types of colour that are honey and green. Onyx marbles have a greater amount of variation and each piece clearly displays its own individual and natural character.

Honey Magma Onyx provides a deep and warming effect, much like natural fire light and is ideal for creating a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Green Magma Onyx as a marble light has a more earthy and perhaps otherworldly appeal, the variations in the stone being subtle but apparent, creating a cool and calm atmosphere that will sooth and ease your mind.

Marble lights are hand crafted and made with skill and dedication. Each piece can arguably be described as a work of art in itself, setting off even the most modest of rooms, creating an elegant and refined mood, where perhaps there was little or no atmosphere at all, when lit with a traditional wall lamp.

There are many types of marble light out there but Turkish marble lighting is arguably by far the most beautiful and well crafted, steeped in ancient history from the quarries of Bilecik, Kayseri and Bursa, all places that have fascinating and illuminating stories to tell, that will warm any guest on a cold winters night.
