subject: Greece Will Stay In The Euro Zone Says Merkel [print this page]

Angela Merkel has taken a pledge to keep Greece in the euro zone but her comments had very failed to convince the traders who bet on yet more dangerous procrastination in the places such as Berlin as well as Brussels. After having talks with prime minister, Antonis Samaras in Berlin, the Chancellor of Germany had to say she was very deeply convinced that the new government of the Greece was doing everything in order to solve the problems. Samaras had insisted that Greece wants time not money. But Merkel had refused to even address the plea of signaling to the fact of having a continuation of the dead-lock at the heart of the crisis of the debt.

The sense of vacuum rather than the solution was very much compounded by the revelations that the European Central Bank that is ECB is making plans in order to delay the progress of its bond buying programme. The sources at the central bank had informed the reporters that there will be no conclusions on the highly projected strategy, which has till date helped in fuelling the recent rally that was held in the stock market, until Germany had given an approval for the planning in order to boost the European Stability Mechanism i.e. ESM.

The investors as well as the economists had hoped that president of the ECB, Mario Draghi will be using a press conference on the 7th of September in order to make an announcement of a radical intervention plan that was important. But the ruling of the court of Germany on the legitimacy of the ESM is not due until the 12th of September. Draghi first hinted towards a bond purchasing scheme on the 2nd of August2, yet the time table is now very much going downwards towards the next deadline for a default of the Greece. Robert Halver who works at Baader Bank in Frankfurt, had informed the reporter that it is the time that clear decisions should be made. But now there is a possibility that Greece will be leaving the euro zone in the month of October. The preparations of the exit of the Greece as well as a subsequent domino effect are running now as of now. The markets presently need to know what the face of the new euro zone is going to be and what policy will be necessary for this task.
