Remote Support

Rather than driving mile to your nearest PC repair shop to get your machine looked at, remote access allows a technician to log in to your machine through the internet and take control of your computer as if they were sitting with you.

To allow remote access, all you need to do is install a free program like TeamViewer and give the technician the login code that appears in the TeamViewer application. Then they can access your PC. Youll even see the cursor move about the screen as they open various folders and resolve the problem.

TeamViewer also has a chat box, so you can converse with the technician on the other end as they work with you to resolve the problem.

But you will always be in control of your computer at all times. So if you move your Mouse, the cursor controls will be overridden to you. This ensures safety so you neednt ever worry that someone else is inside your computer.

However, its advised that you always remain at your computer while the technician is working. After all, they may have a number of questions that they need assistance with in order to repair your computer.

Back Up Your Data

Creating restore points on your computer and saving all your important files to an external hard drive on a monthly basis is a great idea.

In a worst case scenario, you can revert your computer back to an earlier time and remove any problems incurred since.

Other times you may need to reinstall your operating system, which will return your computer to its factory settings and lose all of your existing data.

However, most people dont think about this until after something has gone horribly wrong. So methodically back up your data on a monthly basis and youll never have anything to worry about.

Make sure you look after your recovery discs and keep them in a safe place too.
