subject: Cut Your Cooking Time With A Quooker Boiling Water Tap For Modern Kitchens [print this page] If you hate the prospect of boiling water, it may be time for you to invest in a Quooker.
All modern designer German style kitchens should have a Quooker. Although it looks like a standard tap, it actually dispenses instant boiling water at 100C.
Designed to make life easier for home cooks, the Quooker prevents the frustration of having to bother boiling your water. The Quooker is now sold in most countries throughout Europe.
Although it sounds counterintuitive, the boiling water will not burn your hand. This is because the water is mixed with bubbles of air and will not hurt you as much as solid - although it is better not to try it.
The Quooker is useful for everything in modern kitchens from making tea and washing up to boiling vegetables and sterilising baby bottles.
Any job in the kitchen that requires boiling hot water will become much easier with a Quooker.
The revolutionary kitchen appliance also has the benefit of reducing your water heating costs. According to the Energy Saving Trust, every time you boil your kettle, it costs an average of 1.4p. There is also the added bonus of having it as a talking point for guests.
So is it worth investing in? If you are currently renovating your modern or designer kitchen, absolutely.
But if it all comes down to your wallet, remember, it is not an absolute necessity, but it is a great product.
Mark Gilligan from Kitchen Design Centre in Manchester said: Like the electric kettle overtook the hob, the Quooker will gradually become part of our lives.
At the moment, however, they are not considered a necessity, although having one will more than help you.
People tend to overfill a kettle to boil it, and so running costs are more. A Quooker provides a huge labour saving.
How do Quookers work?
Water is held in an insulated tank, under the worktop of your designer German style kitchen, which is heated from 110 degrees C.
When you turn the tap on, the water comes out at boiling temperature. The water is filtered through activated carbon.
Some applications of the Quooker to use in designer German styled kitchens include faster cooking of pasta and vegetables, quick preparation of baby bottles, rinsing of items which are ordinarily difficult to clean, peeling tomatoes and blanching vegetables, melting wax, poaching eggs and heating plates.
