subject: A Nice Trip To The Colorful Haridwar- India [print this page]

Just returned from a trip in India, I am now back in my beloved Stockholm. I allowed myself a long trip - three months - because I've always been interested in India. I chose to stay in the same place all the time, in one of India's holy cities, Haridwar, meaning "the door to heaven." Now that I 'm back I can see for yourself, the journey has been good for me. I have practiced yoga, followed some courses, including cooking and eating this good vegetarian food in three months. I've lost a few kilos in the process. We had a chef from Nepal and he was skilled. So talented, that I almost think becoming a vegetarian after this trip.

I lived in an ashram, a spiritual place, owned by a German woman and her three children, whom she had with her Indian guru who is now dead. He was seen as a saint and that makes this woman as well, which is extremely versed in Indian scriptures. Her three children are all teachers of yoga on the site and also in Ayurvedic medicine and cuisine. All three sing and play. An artistic family. They invited people from all over the world to his "home." With a base to eat and sleep, I have learned to understand money and the people better. Now I dare to bring me out on their own in India and I intend to do in the fall. I've always wanted to see Varanasi and it is best to take this opportunity before it is too late. My impression of India is mixed. It has everything, from the most terrible poverty to the richest environment. There are many cars, mostly in bright colors, I noticed, many motorcycles and rickshaws (three-wheeled vehicle with benches). Traffic is busy and traffic is not needed. They do anyway and in front of their vehicle as if it were a video game in speeding. The noise level is high and traffic is mixed up with cows, pigs and dogs. That's fine too. They grow everywhere and the gardens are generally well managed. , I met friends there and I, who had never gone motorcycle before, set a cast in traffic. I had a friend from Japan, who had a scooter. She and I took us for a tour for a caffe latte sometimes at any bar, and she helped me to find ATMs and other important places, like the record when you could send cards home. Besides, I have experienced a real Indian wedding. It was like a fairy tale.

I long for the noise, the people and the beautiful flowers, although there is much that is not so funny in India - littering, among other things! The plastic will disappear not by itself as other debris, and it is a problem that India must resolve. I long back, India is a friendly country, colorful with many temples. They are not as advanced as in Europe, where all the work and do not have time to take care of each other. In India most respects each other in the family. There is clearly tragedy there too, but the common temple visits, connecting people and they have something to look up to and live with. , the ancient Indian scriptures is the cradle of the world. So it feels to me.
