subject: Libraries Near Child Care Centers In Orchard Road [print this page]

Library@Orchard officially opened on October 21, 1999 and is located on the fifth floor of the Ngee Ann City Shopping Mall, Podium Block, Tower, at 391 Orchard Road, #05-22/26, Singapore 238872. It is the sixth rental library to be located in a shopping mall and the 16th community library of the National Library Board (NLB). It is the first library to be located in the heart of the city, at Orchard Road. Unfortunately, on July 25, 2007, the National Library Board announced that the Library@Orchard will be closed on November 30, 2007 because the lease on the premises at Ngee Ann City would not be renewed. It will be relocated in the new Specialists Shopping Center now being built and will open in the first quarter of 2014. The library will occupy the third and fourth floors of the building, which is located between 313@Somerset and Orchard Central, and take up a space of 1,700sqm. The good news is that while we wait, there are still a few libraries near the Child Care Schoolin orchard road.

The National Library Board is located at 100 Victoria Street and is approximately 2km away from Child Care Centre in orchard road. It is open on Mondays to Sundays at 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. It is closed on Public Holidays and at 5:00 pm on the eve of Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year. The National Library Board oversees both the National Library as well as the Public Libraries. By international convention, the functions of these two kinds of libraries are distinct and well-differentiated. The National Library Boards mission is to provide a trusted, accessible and globally-connected library and information service through the National Library and a comprehensive network of Public Libraries. Also under its management are 31 libraries belonging to government agencies, schools and institutions. Through its innovative use of technology and collaboration with strategic partners, the National Library Board ensures that library users have access to a rich array of information services and resources that are convenient, accessible and relevant.
