Mysore is a south Indian city and is located at the Chamunda hills in the south west direction of the city of Bangalore. The city is the second largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. Civic administration of Mysore is administered by the Mysore Civic Corporation and the city is also the headquarter to Mysore district and Mysore division. Till the year 1947, the city of Mysore served as the capital of Kingdom of Mysore. This ancient and significant city is known for its royal palaces and specially the Mysore Palace, rich and colorful culture, diverse traditions and different tourism spots and locations.

The beautiful city of Mysore has come a long way besides being an ancient capital of a dynasty. Today it takes pride in being a metropolitan city with lots of development and progress in many sectors of work. As tradition and culture has always been an intrinsic part of the city so some of the traditional industries that are doing well are as follows, weaving, sandlewood carving, bronze work and the production of lime and salt. Beside this the city of Mysore is also hub to many small, medium and large scale industries and businesses. According to an international survey, Mysore is the fifth best city in India for the business work.

The state of Karnataka has established some of the main industrial bases in and around Mysore for the development of industrial base in the city. Major industrial companies in Mysore are, Bharat Earth Movers, J K Tyres, Wipro, Falcon Tyres, Larsen and Turbo, Theorem India and Infosys. Mysore is also the emerging IT city of country and its tremendous progress in this sector has shown that it has a promising future in this field and in a survey it was also known that Mysore is the second largest software exporter in the state after Bangalore.

Mysore has an ancient education center of the country and even before that, according to historians the city was a center for the Vedic education. And even today the city has earned a name for itself by founding a number of reputed and experienced educational institutes here. These schools are made keeping in mind the modern and technical educational needs but also mixing the age old values of the land. Some of the reputed institutes include the University of Mysore, the Mysore Medical College, National Institute of Engineering, the Central Institute of Indian Language.

All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, and the Chamarajendra Technical Institute. The schools of the city are administered either by the government or by the private organization or trust. They are affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, NIOS and other state boards. Play schools in the city are located near the residential locations and have a home like environment. Educational institutes of Mysore envision creating world class leaders of tomorrow who could take rational decisions for the betterment of the society.
