You want to become used to going out more and socializing more often and not only that, you want to have interests that add excitement to your life. It's easy to captivate a woman's attention when you have interesting things to talk about and that doesn't always happen when you spend most of your time channel surfing on the couch. The more active of a lifestyle that you have, the more likely it is that you are going to be able to meet women.
3) Learn to bounce back from any rejections that you might get.
I don't know too many guys who do well with women who don't get the occasional rejection. It's bound to happen if you do socialize with and approach lots of women. However, most of the guys that I know who are pretty good at getting dates don't allow a rejection to get them down. They don't allow one woman's opinion to make them think that all women are going to reject them. They are able to bounce back from it with ease and that is what helps them play the odds the right way and approach more women.
