subject: Take A Risk With Mens Fashion [print this page]

The world of mens fashion has changed considerably over the last few years. Gone are the days where men avoided any colours or styles that could be classed as feminine, now it is difficult to decipher whether a t-shirt is made for men or women. If you are having difficulty trying to work out if you are in the right section in a clothing store, here are top tips for ensuring that you do not mix up these new fashion trends.

The old stereotype that blue was for boys and pink for girls has been shattered as more and more mens fashion designers turn to this traditionally feminine colour as the basis of their new collections. Head into any town centre and you will no doubt be confronted with a sea of coral, salmon and even fuchsia. T-shirts, polo shirts and even formal shirts have been transformed with pink design accents, and when worn correctly pink garments can look great. There are some occasions where pink just does not work, for instance the new trend for tight shorts can go from stylish to tragic when you decide to opt for a pink pair. Imagine what a child would dress their Ken doll, if you start to resemble Barbies partner it may be time to put down the coral pants.

Scoop neck t-shirts have also proved to be a popular choice for the modern man. The trend started with an exaggerated V-neck and has progressed through to the cowl and finally the exaggerated scoop neck. Although these t-shirts can look smart when paired with a toned down pair of chinos or jeans, there is a risk of taking the scoop look too far. When purchasing a shirt make sure you do not opt for one that shows off most of your chest, you will run the risk of looking like you are wearing a ladies shirt designed to flattering their assets. Stick to a subtle neckline that looks slightly different but does not give everything away, if all else fails simply go with an on-trend printed shirt from a brand such as The Cuckoos nest for effortless style.

Luckily the trend for drainpipe jeans seems to have died down however they have been replaced by equally risky denim options that can often spell disaster. The latest collection drop-crotch trousers can look fantastic when worn correctly however they are very tricky to pull off. If you opt for drop crotch jeans make sure you pair them with a plain t-shirt so that you do not look too over the top. These trousers are already a fashion statement!
