Then the existing old carpet can be rolled back over the new pad and then cleaned. Amazingly, no more stains appear. Wow! Why not? The pad under the existing carpet was dirty and stained, not the carpet. Every time a customer would walk over the dirty padding the dirt would move from the old pad to the surface of the good carpet, thus making the customer believe they need to spend thousands on new carpeting when really all they needed was $300 in new carpet padding in order to solve their problems. Carpet companies never tell customers they could do this and save thousands. Why would they? They wouldnt make any money by being honest. I have personally caught carpet installers carefully taking old carpet out of a house in as big of rolls as possible only to be cleaned in an open parking lot down the street by a friend who owns a carpet clean company. After the carpets are cleaned, the now new-looking carpet is sold in rolls at the local weekend swap meets at 100% profit for the installers and carpet cleaner to split evenly.
