subject: Special Jewellery Pieces [print this page]

There is a little piece of jewellery that is so often forgotten in life. It is of course the simple bead. This may seem an insignificant thing and it can give rise to wonderful thoughts of childhood. Beads are very often the first ting little girls in particular play with when they first begin to learn about jewellery. There are lots of presents and gifts and toys which contain these tiny items so that young children can have fun stringing bits together and making all kinds of fun pieces. These include necklaces, ear rings, bracelets and all manner of items.

Children just love the feel of these and can let their imagination go to town with any amount of creative flair. Usually children begin with plastic pieces but often their journey into the world of beads begins when they see Mum cutting up a melon. Melon seeds can be washed and dried and make truly wonderful necklaces. Children just love to paint them too and can spend hours doing this and letting them dry hard in the sun before stringing them together with a simple piece of cotton or thread.

When a little girl can wear her very first necklace from something she has made herself from a naturally grown ingredient, it gives a wonderful sense of adult achievement. Presents and toys usually have readymade beads which are made of wood, plastic or glass. They are often bought as part of a kit, complete with coloured threads and clasps and can also give hours of creative joy.

No wonder, when children grow up into adults, the creativity can grow into serious jewellery making. Many avid collectors of beads come up with new things each day, intricately blending different styles and colours together to make fascinating adornments. The amazing thing with these tiny pieces of beautiful colour is that they are the perfect way to create an individual look which is also highly sophisticated. The art is often to keep the final effect subtle in an understated way, producing that idiosyncrasy that you can call your very own.

From Swarovski Crystals to semi precious gemstones and all kinds of materials, these tiny little pieces of wonder are a joy to the eye and will attract lots of comments wherever you go. You can wear them with any number of different outfits and to the grandest of occasions. You can even wear them slouching around in the local park.
