subject: The Keys To Succeeding In Marriage [print this page]

In 2008, one of my goals is to become computer literate. Of course, I know how to Google(TM) information, but I want to be able to surf the Web and navigate through all the popular sites with ease. So one afternoon, I went online searching for information, and to my amazement I discovered that almost every popular Web site I visited had a vast amount of articles on how to have a successful marriage. They offered step-by-step instructions, complete with how-to and to-do lists; yet most of the articles, if not all of them, never mentioned anything about God-the Creator of the institution of marriage.

Needless to say, I was utterly amazed at the information presented in the articles. People talked about everything from food to sex, yet gave no true wisdom on how to make a marriage work. As I thought about the millions of people who turn to these sites looking for much-needed answers to their marital problems, I was saddened. Saddened because even if someone followed the to-do list, and every other suggestion these sites offered, they still would not have a clue how to make their marriage work.

I always say if you really want to know how something works, talk to the person who made it. For example, let's say you have a Ford car, and you're having problems with your car. Why would you take it to a Honda dealer? Although a Honda dealer may be able to give you some helpful information and advice, the best place to go would be the Ford dealer, since they are the manufacturer of the car.

It's the same with the institution of marriage. If you have questions about marriage, or if you want to know how to have a successful marriage, ask God. He created marriage, and He's the One who can tell you how to successfully operate in it. If you have trouble understanding the Bible or what it says about marriage ask God to give you understanding. You can also talk to a spiritual counselor or adviser who can help you get the understanding you need to obtain the successful marriage God desires for you.

Do you want to know the key to success in every area of your life, including success in marital relationships? It's taking the principles from the Word of God, and applying them to your everyday life. God made marriage, so who can better tell you how to operate in it than He?
