subject: Be Certain To Prepare For The Color Run 5k Day By Doing These Three Things [print this page]

There are some suggestions that runners should consider before the big run when participating in the Color Run 5k. Preparing for the run is one thing, but there is also the preparation for the amount of color that will be tossed onto the runners throughout the run day. Runners would do well to keep these recommendations in mind.

First, participants should make sure that they have their registration packet and a white shirt well before the morning of the run. Saturday runs have packet pickups on the Friday and Thursday prior to the big run. Packet distribution is on the Friday and Saturday just before the run for events that are held on Sundays. The packets are available starting at 10 am and running until 7 pm both days. Participants should be sure to take proper identification to the packet distribution. Finding or purchasing a white shirt well before the date is also important. This is because it can be hard to find the perfect white shirt that is comfortable for running and for having fun with the color bombs.

The color isn't going to just be just on the white shirt though and participants in the Color Run 5k should plan for this reality. The color will be everywhere by the end of the run, including all of the runners' clothing and skin that isn't hidden in clothing. Therefore, runners are always reminded that it's important to cover anywhere that could be sensitive. To ensure hair is protected and not colored, those with light shades should use a product like olive oil or coconut oil in the hair (leave in conditioners work too). Completely covering the hair also helps with items like bandanas. To keep the color from irritating the eyes, runners should think about using sunglasses or goggles of some kind.

After the Color Run San Diego the best way to remove the majority of the color from the body and clothing is to dust it off. Since it is merely tinted corn starch, a lot of it will come off in this way. The tint can easily stain things though when it gets wet, so dusting as much as possible is highly recommended.

The Color Run 5k is a fun event that can become one of the most memorable events of participants' lifetimes with a bit of good planning. Remember to get the white shirt and packet in advance though to make it the best event possible.
