subject: Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas [print this page]

Sometimes its hard to come up with extra money to throw away on store bought Halloween costumes. Often they arent very original, they are made cheaply, and they still end up costing a decent amount of money, especially if you are buying for multiple children. When there are times when you just dont want to spend the extra money reference this group of affordable Halloween costume ideas. Theyre pretty cool and much cheaper than going to the store.

If you like zombies you can put together a living dead costume for very little money. Simply go out to the local Salvation Army or Goodwill and get some clothes for your costume for next to nothing. You want light clothes that will be easy to stain, and they need to be pretty loose fitting on you. Now pour red food coloring and a darker tea all over them to add the stains.

After you have the clothes stained its time to apply the makeup. You will need a white pack of foundation and a black face crayon, both should be available for very little. Now paint your face and the rest of your body with the white foundation. From there add dark accents on your face and around your body with the black crayon.

Many people are more than happy to throw a sheet over their head to make a quick ghost costume, but what if you want something a little more original. How about a movie style ghost where you look like an old, pale, white person. You wont be using a sheet in this costume and it will be more convincing and original.

First you have to get all the clothing for the costume. The best place to do that is the local secondhand shop because you can find older clothes for cheap. Look for something in your size that looks about 100 years old, its even better if it looks like it has been worn a lot. Now sprinkle some dirt on the shoulders of it and you have the clothes.

Last, but not least is your body. Add brown face makeup under your eyes to make yourself look more dead. Pour a thing of baby powder all over you making sure to rub it into your skin very thoroughly. This is what will make you look pale and dead which is very important and you are now a ghost.

If you are in a big rush you can make a quick lamp costume in less than five minutes. Put on all black clothes, or all metallic clothes if you happen to have them. From there you just put a lampshade on your head placing it as low as you can without blocking your eyes. If you want to go the extra mile you can poke holes in it so you can see.

Every one of these unique Halloween costume ideas can be created exactly as they are described, but it is far more entertaining to veer away from the idea a little to make something all your own. The best use for these descriptions is for brainstorming up your own costume ideas. Be creative and you will come up with something great and low cost.
