subject: The Best Way To Move [print this page]

So you've got some moving to do, do you? Well, better you than me. If it's one thing that people don't like, it's moving. Sure, it's nice to set up in a nice new place, and get all your stuff unpacked and out and everything. It's getting everything packed, put into the van, moved to your new place, and unpacked that people dread like singing in front of church.

However, there are some ways to make this easier. All you've got to do is follow a few common sense tips, and you'll be there in no time. Of course, it won't happen magically, but it will be much easier than if you did it on the fly.

One time tested tip is to get plenty of friends to help. Of course, since nobody likes to do this, bribing them is the simplest way. Free food when they are done, free food while they are doing it, and free drinks before, during, and after.

If you've got the cash, you can hire a private moving company. This will be a lot easier, but a lot more expensive. You'll still need to load up everything you've got into boxes. It helps to label the boxes, because you never know which order they'll be packed or unpacked. Once I moved into a new place and I couldn't find my razor for days. My boss wasn't pleased.

Of course, you'll need some kind of vehicle to move all your junk. The bigger the better. Some places will charge extra if your picking up your truck or van from one spot and leaving it in another. So don't be shy about shopping around to get the best deal.

One thing that will make it much easier is if you move on a weekday. That way the traffic will be a lot lighter, and you won't have any parking issues. Everybody will be at work. Of course, this makes it much tougher on getting friends to help, so take that into consideration.

Whenever you plan on moving, give yourself twice as much time as you think it's going to take. Nothing ever goes according to plan. Sure, we all have dreams of waking up, shoving everything into boxes, jamming over to our new place, and then unpacking everything lickity split. Unfortunately, it rarely works out like that.

When you take the time to follow these tips, you'll have a much easier time moving. You'll have less headache, and you'll get it done quicker. Have fun.
