subject: The Best Way To Win Table Tennis [print this page]

Table tennis is one of the games attracting a significant amount of attention in during this Olympic season. The competition follows the prevailing regulations. These regulations are set by the ITTF, which works in partnership with the Olympic administration.

As you watch or play the sport, the first thing to understand is how the players make a score. It is pretty easy to know. When a player is not fails to return the ball with the racket over the net. As a result, the receiver will win a point. This is because in playing the ball, the server must make sure that it lands on the receivers side.

Winning the game is achieved when one of the players makes a score of 11 points. For this to happen, the leading player must make a score of 2 points. As the game goes on, there are times when both players achieve a score of 10. Here, the one who is in a position to make the first 2 points automatically wins.

As a rule, the game is over when seven games are played in a set. The competition involves both men and women singles. It is also characterized by having different teams play. However, these teams should conduct five matches. Additionally, the team that scores well and wins the first 3 matches is crowned as the winner.

Like other games, scores for this sport start from 0-0. Any of the players can serve first. However, this may change as the game goes on. Each of the players is given a chance to serve two times in a row. This is followed by an alteration as the opponent player is allowed to serve. The game rules require the ball to touch the opponents side.

Sometimes, the served ball may not touch the table. It may hit the net, post or the clamps. When this occurs, a replay is conducted. Usually, this is referred to as just or let serves. This does not affect the scores made. The players can serve the ball as many times as they please. All the while, they must ensure that the ball goes over the net or around it. If this does not happen, a point is scored to the advantage of the server.

The match follows this style as players hit the ball to one another. If one of the players fails to hit the ball back, the server automatically wins. This process continues until one of the players accumulates more points.

When the scores reach 10, the players serve only once. This goes on until the table tennis ends. However, as the competition comes to a close and one of the players makes a score of 5, there is an exchange of sides. Each of the players goes to the opponent side. This continues until there is a clear winner.
