subject: Cancun Clubbing For The 30-somethings [print this page]

There comes a time when every person must realize they are no longer part of the under-30 crowd. It is can be painful, but it is best to remain realistic and act your age. Now, that doesn't mean going from wild party person straight to game halls and shuffleboard. No one is telling you to stop having a good time dancing the night away. We are simply urging slightly more maturity and decorum. Our twenties are for behaving like raving idiots without much fear of repercussions, but by the time we get to our thirties it's time to get down to business. We should be settling into a stable lifestyle that provides a respectable income, making sound choices that do not adversely affect other areas of life, and behave in a decent manner. It isn't as boring as it sounds, really!

All kidding aside, many Cancun vacationers do not enjoy the boisterous fun of the Hotel Zone and would prefer to go somewhere that is still fun but slightly more subdued. Captain's Cove has a long standing reputation in Cancun as great place for a good seafood meal, but they also have a nightclub for "over-30's can relax and let their hair down". Across the street from Captain's Cove, is Pancho & Willy's, a club that offers theme nights, dancing, a good music selection, karaoke, a huge video screen, and a nice light bar menu. Pancho & Willy's has styled itself as the place to go for those wishing to avoid excessive cover charges, crowds of partying college kids, and their outrageous antics. There is still a party to be had, just a little more on the quiet side.

For something a little different, try out Thai Lounge. Exotic in decor, the club is suited well to a tropical jungle environment. Overlooking the dolphinarium in Nichupte Lagoon, Thai Lounge provides intimate palm lounges for a quiet evening of expertly prepared food by renowned Thai chef Supoj Thamtinho. Not only does Thai Lounge offer gastronomic delights that will have you coming back for more, weekend events include DJ hosted evenings so guests can dance the night away under the night sky of Cancun.

A favorite place for international and local artists is on the menu next: the Roots Jazz Club. Roots isn't all fancy and trendy, nor is it run down and out of date. This is a place of simple and elegant decor, unassuming yet good food, and the very best live jazz music in Mexico. A regular venue choice for the annual Mexico Jazz Festival, Roots is very well regarded in the local musical community. In setting your plan for nightly entertainment, be sure to include Roots Jazz Club.
