One of the flagship events of the institute is the leadership series that happens every year at their Pune campus. The SIIB leadership series is an excellent opportunity for the young management students to interact with stalwarts from the industry. Every year the institute invites the leaders from the industry to interact with the students and share their valuable insights. Over the years the leadership series has witnessed experts from various sectors come to the SIIB campus to interact with the students. This year the SIIB leadership series was hosted on the 7th August and received an overwhelming response from industry and students alike.
The one day interaction was preceded by many fun filled events to engage greater number of students from across the globe. Some of the online events to precede the leadership series included competitions like E-buzz marketing that promoted digital media marketing amongst students. With events like Photothrone and Eccentricity; students were also given a chance to explore their creative abilities. All these competitions were accessible online and so students from across countries were able to take part in it. These competitions were initiated 4th August and continued for three days to help build the tempo for the SIIB leadership series-2012.
SIIB leadership series has been one of the most well received events in its league. Previous seasons of the Leadership series have received a hugely motivating response from the industry as well. The confluence has been graced by people like Homi Khusrokhan, MD, TataTea(2003), Mr. Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Group (2004), Mr. Richard Rushton, MD, Sab Miller (2005), Mr R.R Balakrishnan,Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, Lowe Lintas India Pvt Ltd (2008), MrGautam Rajyadhaksha(2008), Ms Ranjana Kumar, Vigilance Commissioner(2008), Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD Bajaj Auto Ltd(2010), and Mr. P Namperumalsamy, Chairman, Aravind eye care.
The theme for the SIIB leadership series-2012 is Rediscovering the Middle East. The Arab springs have caused a positive shift in the Middle Eastern economies as well. The industry has grown to value foreign investments more. Foreign economies are now looking at these countries as one of their biggest markets. This leadership series was all about industry experts talking about rediscovering the opportunities in the Middle East. In fact there was a special keynote that talked about the Arab springs and their implication on Indian markets.
Esteemed guests gracing this years SIIB Leadership Series event included stalwarts like Dr. Talmiz Ahmad-Former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Pankaj Khimji, Industrialist, Oman and Dr. Dileep Padgaonkar -Veteran Journalist, Columnist and Author. The keynote to the seminar was delivered by Dr. Talmiz Ahmad. The experts shared their views on several sensitive issues of the Middle Eastern markets as well, during their interaction with students.
All in all, the SIIB Leadership Series 2012 stood up to its reputation and continued its record of being superbly successful. Some of the finest leaders came down to SIIB to share their valuable insights. The thought provoking session has only left the students asking for more.
