subject: Cleaning Your Email List Tips [print this page] Email marketing is still one good way to make money online. I know some Internet marketers who do not mail to their list because they are afraid they will lose subscribers if they send out to many emails. To that I say what is the point of having an email list if you are afraid to mail to it.
If you find yourself in this situation I would suggest you get more subscribers. I personally have never been afraid to mail my list because if someone doesn't want to be on it I actually encouraged themn to unsubscribe.
Another thing is some people are afraid to email because they're going to get complaints. I personally use Aweber to manage my list and do get some complaints whenever I send an email out to my list of over 25,000 people.
Granted 25,000 subscribers is a large list, bigger than most, smaller than some. When you have that many people receiving an email on a regular basis you're bound to get some complaints.
There's a couple of easy ways to clean your email list so you don't have subscribers on it who don't want to be there anymore.
1. Email several times per month. Most of my subscribers and least remember who I am because they're going to get 15 to 20 emails a month.
Some of these are emails from solo ads bought from customers. Some are training emails that help people learn ways to make money online.
Sometimes I will just send an email out referring people back to a blog post where I point out something useful I come across online. Of course sometimes I am promoting a product or program I make money from.
The point is I send out several emails month and every one of them contains the header to my website, my name in the from field, my contact info at the bottom of each message. It is also easy to unsubscribe on every email by just clicking on a link provided by Aweber at the bottom of the email.
I will get subscribers who contact me directly and ask to be unsubscribed. I appreciate that and always immediately unsubscribe anyone who doesn't want to be on my list anymore.
2. Invite people to unsubscribe by sending out an email. I know Internet marketers who will occasionally clean their list by sending out an email and inviting people to unsubscribe from the list.
Although I have never personally done this I can understand the benefit to it. If you don't mail your list on a regular basis people may forget who you are and your complaint rate would go up when they receive an email from you.
By sending out an email inviting them to unsubscribe you are keeping your list somewhat current of people who want to be on it. This will help keep your complaint rate down.
Email marketing is still a great way to make money if you do it correctly. Having a list of subscribers who want to receive messages from you is an important part of this.
