subject: Tips In Choosing Scrapbook Supplies [print this page]

So you have decided to start making a scrapbook! Like many other things, starting out a scrapbooking project will require you to purchase scrapbook supplies. While it seems great to have a few buying options, you may find it so easy too to spend much money than you ever intended. You can get a lot of new ideas from everything you may see and you could get more supplies than you may need for the coming year. So, here are some tips that can help you in choosing supplies for your scrapbooking project without actually hurting your budget much.

At Home Scrapbook Supplies

Perhaps, you will be surprised at the number of things you have at home that you can use for your scrapbooking project. A few of the primary supplies for scrapbooking include scissors and adhesives. You need to use these materials on every page. It would be great to have specific scrapbook scissors that offer different cuts but you can be creative to come up with different cuts using a regular scissor in the outset.

Buying some glue would be nice but if you have a double sided adhesive at home then you may consider using that. After all, it would be much convenient to use that than any other adhesive or glue.

Scrapbook Embellishments and Stickers

It would be convenient to utilize scrapbook embellishments and stickers. You do not have to think much about it. Simply grab it, stick in place then you are done! So, let us take a look at other supplies that you may already have and consider creative ways of using them. You can always cut flowers from any leftover of scrapbook cards or papers. You can use a button or an earring that has lost its pair to create the nectar or the center of your paper flower.

You may also consider taking a flower from the bouquet you got the last time you have celebrated your birthday, dry it for a few days then spray its petals with spray adhesive or hairspray to preserve it. You may cut the stem off then stick it to the frame around a photo or anywhere you want on your scrapbook pages. This could give much sentimental value.

Reusable Scrapbook Supplies Sharing

Maybe you have sisters, cousins or friends who are also scrapbooking. You can share scrapbook materials with them or ask them for supplies that they do not want to use anymore. You can trade reusable supplies with those you know who are also doing the kind of scrapbooking project you have. This will save you lots of money and establish a camaraderie.

There are a lot of items that you can use over and over, such as die cuts, rubber stamps, cutting pads or stencils. Buying rubber stamp pads can seem expensive especially if you only think of using them for two or three pages. You may ask a friend to buy one then you will also buy another that you two can share to cut the cost and double creativity.
