subject: The Maze Of The Appstore [print this page] Most of us play games on iPhone already and while Apple has been brilliant in designing both its hardware and its software, there are so many Apps that are rubbish in the AppStore. Even if you just look at the 25 top free, you find games you wonder how they achieved to be on this list, considering their poor graphics and game play. This is not a trash talk as Apple has achieved to engage people in gaming that have never before gamed. My youngest brother, my father and my grandfather are now hooked to games on their iPhones. This brings me to my main point: If there are people with different interest and different ages playing, there must be different games. But instead of filling up the AppStore with loads of useless Apps, why doesnt Apple filter more games out? I suppose this would be another long essay and while Apple does not change its filtering process, it is much more useful to think how to best use the AppStore as it is now.
The ones who have it hardest are young people and not elderly people as it is often thought. This is because elderly people usually know what they like and dislike and although they sometimes have no idea of computers, they ask their grandsons to find a chess game, or a Sudoku game. My grandfather loves his iPhone and is constantly asking us grandchildren favours lol Young people usually are much better at dealing with the internet and with software, cause they grew up with it. But with so much choice, the decision making time may be too short and they tend to end up with loads of Apps on their iPhones they hardly use. Besides, some of the games they like may not be the ones their parents approve of. This is different from person to person and I can only talk from the experience of my family, so I am not going to go into this subject any deeper. But the game I am about to suggest is both fun to play, non violent (as in killing zombies and so on) and teaches without patronizing the player. In short: It is a really cool game!
It is called Octojet and before you ask, yes it involves an octopus called Paul. The producer thought it would be a good idea to name him Paul after the octopus which correctly foresaw the winning of Spain in the soccer world championship. In the game Paul has to survive the levels and in order to do that he has to shoot divers, sharks, torpedoes and bombs and eat animals, such as shells, lobsters and crabs. You can also tilt the device to move Paul from side to side. Each time you die, the Did you know speech bubble appears with info from the marine world. Did you know that octopuses had three hearts? I didnt, lol. Check the game out, it has no ads, is good fun, informative and only costs 99 cents. Apart from that it also has some really nice tunes accompanying it, which you can turn off at any point. The developers wanted to make the game play as good as possible and tested the game various times throughout a year, so that when you play it, it runs smoothly. They already have plans for the future, so watch out for fun-packed updates. You can either search Octojet on the AppStore, or you can go to octojetapp.com for more info. Both on the AppStore and on the website you see the creatures and the awesome marine underwater world that make this game one of a kind!
