subject: Sap Business One Brazil Faq: Sped, Taxation And Implementation In General [print this page]

There are several reasons why Business One is popular in Brazil. One of them is probably economic growth. The second one might be (we are just guessing based on what we heard from consulting companies in Sao Paulo) related to the lack of reasonably priced offer from Microsoft Business Solutions and Oracle which reports SPED electronically. Lets try to compile several popular questions and answer them:

Q. Is B1 available in Brazilian Portuguese or we have to use European Portuguese?

A. The answer is yes. The language in Portugal could be considered as classical but the deviation between the two is gradual and we appreciated your question

Q. Our question is about Public Digital Bookkeeping or SPED. Does it report directly to SPED servers or we need to file to intermediate party where they should format it and file on our behalf?

A. There is add-on available through ISV channel which reports electronically directly to government hosted servers. You should understand that you have to purchase and implement is separately

Q. As discussion is conducted in English you should expect IT managers from multinational corporation to be in the auditorium. We deploy Microsoft Dynamics GP as our headquarters accounting software. Great Plains is not available down there and how do we connect two systems for such purposes as consolidated financial statements and internal or IRS audits?

A. We have one case study where tandem GP with SB1 was implemented. GL transactions from SAP are exported from SQL query and saved into text file. Then they are imported by Integration Manager GL level integration. At this point you are ready to deploy FRx or Microsoft Management Reporter to generate consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet

Q. Brazilian taxes are they available as preset packages?

A. Unfortunately not and it is because tax percentages and formulas are complex or could be characterized as unique for each corporation. There is tax determination procedure which should be conducted by consulting organization and entered into your SAP BO tax tables. There is no Data Transfer Workbench template available at this time

Q. We heard that there are A and B versions and in the United States we have A while in Brazil we have to deal with B. Is it possible to host both on the same SQL server?

A. With the introduction of version 8.8 A and B were merged into one. So at this point you should not think about this issue anymore

Q. We contacted consulting company in Sao Paulo and they indicated that we should purchase software licenses for local subsidiary directly from them as they are not authorized to sell US licenses

A. We understand the nuances of the situation. If you do not purchase licenses from consulting company they might be less interested in doing implementation consulting job for your branch over there. In our opinion the best scenario is to find consulting partner with presence in the United States as well as in the country of your destination and acquire software licenses in USA
